I've installed Ubuntu a million times before, but never had it hang here for 20 minutes, anyone else ever experienced it? :-/

Don't want to hard reset the PC while the USB is being used

    Probably HDD is a bit dirty, put in dishwasher for about 10 -15 minutes then tumble dry, that should work. If not maybe microwave the Memory stick.

    @Kryptic0 attempted all this, even tried cleaning the USB insides with a water and soap mix to clean off any bugs, still don't work

    You can hardreset without worrying, if you are installing from USB, it is not in write mode, so nothing should get destroyed.

    i usually uncheck everything that could use internet and apt upgrade later

    @moolsbytheway might have to, tried doing the installation via terminal but it couldn't load a graphics API at all, got to love old hardware sometimes -,-

    Yeah that's a big in the current version. It's also in most ubuntu based installers like elementary and zorin. Just let it sit for a while
