Is it normal for a student (17yo, high school) to have nearly no free time? I have to leave for school at 6am and come back nearly everyday at 17 to 18pm. And since I play two instruments I'm in class for them again (+3h per week) and I'm in an orchestra (+6h rehearsal a week). So basically I finally come home at 8pm everyday and I'm so fucked that I can't do shit anymore. The only thing I'm able to do is (and in mood for) is practicing music and programming a little (personal projects and stuff). In theory I'd have free time on weekends then but I'm too tired to do shit on weekend. I stand up at 4pm and go to bed 5h later.

How was your time in school? How much free time did you guys have (or are still having)? Music is kinda free time imo but I'd like to meet schoolfriends outside of schooltime again :(

I have some days till 17:00 but since our bus system is the biggest crap, I'll have to wait long and I'm home 18:30 or so.
Others are 15:15 but I'm home 17:00 then and so on. Then sum homework? Ha, kidding?!

Yea, and 06:00 waking up again

    I feel with you

@BambuSource haha yeah that's so true. I'm arriving 40mins before the actual class starts. When I take the train after the one I usually take I arrive 5min late and teachers don't like that...

I had to get up at 5 and since I didn't really have any friends or other activities I was usually back home at 15, sometimes 18. Then a few hours of studying/necessary homework. I tried to make the most out of the weekends though

Same for me (even without playing any instruments)... Waking up at 5.30am and in school till 5pm some days... Going home takes me longer than for other students, so I'm at home around 7pm... Eating, doing work for school, programming till 12 or 1am... 4 hours of sleep every day ^^

    Yeah, normal.

I worked two jobs and continued on almost full time into college to pay for my schooling.
Made it through and now I’m 24, married, have a job and have loads of free time!

Still working hard to set myself up for retirement and a generally good quality of life.

However, college is way worse. I was averaging 5 hours of sleep a night, if that.
Basically you’ve gotta want your education more than sleep or social life.

@Jilano haha don’t worry, I don’t have too much fancy stuff. Paying off my school debts first.
All I’m telling him is nose-to-grindstone. It sucks, but if you’re smart and work hard, it pays off eventually.

I’m still in the work hard phase, but things are working out. :)

    Good luck to your endeavors!

When I was doing an apprenticeship over 2 years ago, I had to catch the 6am bus everyday to take me 30 mile away while lots of work was being done on the motorways. The journey there easily took over an hour and a half. Coming out of the city center at 5pm was dreadful. The journey home was 2+ hours. I wouldn't get home until about 8pm. I didn't have much spare time, and if I did I more than likely spent it working on my own projects.

It's rare that I go out with friends on the weekends. This is how it's been since I left school. I'm 19 and like to think of working hard while I'm young so I can enjoy a better life when I'm older.

It seems to me that this is a problem for every student. The fact that they do not have free time. I started to do and teach at least a bit on the road. During this hour, I get on the site https://assignment-help.co.uk/ on which I can always find it all and read new information. And coming home I have something ready.
