For some reason my tech enthusiast mind gets really enthusiastic about the fact the Google calendar icon is now based on what date it actually is.

    Actually it's a good idea.
    Everyone will probably copy it soon.
    Does the clock change as well?

    @nbamaral not as of now, dynamic icons are going to be a standard functionality in Android 8 tho, so I expect (and hope) more soon!

    @stijnie2210
    Yes it makes sense, why do they remain static for so long.
    Just hope people don't overdo it.
    Personally hate the little badges, but this can actually be useful.

    Just quietly gonna mention that iOS has done this on the calendar and clock for years.....

    @CorruptComputer I'm guessing it's dynamically generated since I have a static calendar icon on my phone and the numbers on it are shaded. The numbers on the picture in the rant are not shaded, meaning that they were probably just added onto the background.

    MI does it from quite some time.

    @Olverine I don't think shadows are necessarily the best way to tell. Nothing stopping them from putting that into the generation script.

    You might be right regardless.

    @JustMrBates as far as I know Samsung's Android variant has had it since at least the Galaxy S3...

    Miui has animated icons (they animate shortly when you close the app). Looks nice 😄

    IN MI in the notification drawer the colors change according to the weather..

    @JustMrBates *hiding with you*

    In fact this is a cool feature, I really liked it ever since iOS 2.0 lol
    Welcome to the past android -- says an android user :P

    LG had it first 👌

    @gitpush indeed. I myself am an Android fanboy haha but we must give the competition credit when due

    @gitpush @justmrbates oh I've had a lot of android versions before but I just noticed it recently and thought it was pretty cool. It's not like I wanna state that android is better because of it hahahh

    @ParkCity congrats!

    @kwilliams that's definitely not true, I owned one of those

    @stijnie2210 loool
    though it is out of scope of your rant, but I always hate that: Meh, x had it years ago
    if someone is just stating it, then ok, but if saying it as if: dafuq z is so bad because x had it years ago
    anyways, there is still room behind the couch if you want to hide with us :P

    @gitpush I feel like I want to hide behind the couch too know. I'm only getting comments about how any other phone even ones that I owned had it years earlier :( I was just being excited!!

    @stijnie2210 loool ya I just noticed it :P
    Well life isn't fair anyways :P

    @lukegv Its got to have to do with the launcher you use (so in your case Huawei), because I used LineageOS before and didn't have it and on my new oneplus 5 I suddenly noticed it haha

    Worked for me since the start of the app. I checked it every month.

    @Huuugo well, I guess only on specific devices or launchers

    @stijnie2210 nope, works even on paper. Might have something to do with me using it only once a month or so..

    @Huuugo I see 🤔
