The article you posted literally says that the question of whether or not they do a backup is not answered and they are right. You can retrieve most of the data via queries the guy says and he adds that they werw talking about not being able to get data en masse via UI meaning if they go to their app and click around they can't do it. Doesn't mean they can't/don't backup amd doesn't mean a new UI screen for that purpose can't be implemented....
