    This would look bad even on KhanAcademy or StackOverflow.

    This is not a "solve problems for me" website. This is not a Q&A website even. It's not a place to teach even. It's a forum. It doesn't even have the features required to paste code here.

    Don't turn it into one please.

    Andrea and Maria is a big nerd with dem hobbies.

    I think this can be done by summing the odd- or even-indexed values in each array and comparing the sums.

    @AndSoWeCode hello hi yes. I understand where you're coming from And I appreciate it.

    Please appreciate that I think you're wrong. Not just about what you think I'm doing but also about tryna shame me.

    If I'm wrong please correct me elders. @linuxxx and the other guys. (@dfox... I think)

    Devrant is for venting frustration. I assumed that this meant without regard for level or job. So forgive me venting my frustration about my weak points.

    If you feel you're beyond this post then please ignore it and move along as it isn't targeted at you.

    Sorry for the salt but I felt attacked and judged over something I love and I'm trying to get better at.

    Also I have been awake for days tryin to get better at this so that boosts my irritability.

    Sorry but yeah... Bye.

    THANK YOU @ThatDude for your words of encouragement. All I needed.
    Thank you.

    @AndSoWeCode you're right. I shouldn't turn it into what it isn't...

    I'll take your advice or Lord of irony turning it into a place to shame me and show off that you're better and more experienced than someone with less than 250 points.

    @al-m Hello there! Welcome :).

    Our creators are dfox and trogus (the two devs behind this service).

    I'm the biggest one on here (as for reputation, the most infamous one will probs always stay:) and AlexDeLarge is right behind me at the moment.

    In general this platform is meant for venting out frustrations/daily dev life/awesome dev stuffs.

    This platform isn't meant for questions by default but I think that questions about code/operating systems and so on also belong here, as long as it keeps to a tiny amount.

    Disclaimer: this is my opinion and I know at least quite some people agree with me, as well as some don't.

    @ThatDude also wow. So many points. A LOT more than SOMEONE ELSE trying to shade me

    @linuxxx ahem. THANK YOU SIR.

    @al-m "Not just about what you think I'm doing but also about tryna shame me. " - it's not about shaming. If I wanted to shame you, I wouldn't have written an in-depth explanation of why I think this shouldn't belong here.

    Venting, chatting, having fun, is not the same as "solve my problem".

    It's not that I'm beyond it or anything like what you're trying to portray. I simply think that it doesn't belong here. For this, there are tons of Q&A sites, that many of us are part of, that have the features required for asking for help, and providing help.

    If legitimate criticism causes you so much stress after sleepless nights, then maybe you should get some sleep instead of turning this legitimate criticism against me. Chill, ok? Take a step back and look at this.

    Be straight - how many Q&A posts do you see here? How do you think why it is like that? Why would you think it is a good idea to start asking here?

    All I was asking for was advice as to how to get comfortable with algorithms and problem questions cause they make me blank out on sight and I can't even think straight yet alone analyze.
  • 1
    @AndSoWeCode Although I agree that questions shouldn't be around everywhere on here, I think it's part of communities like this. I've been around here for a while now and although it sometimes becomes a little too much, in general I think the balance is very stable :)

    @AndSoWeCode look. I said I get where you're coming from.

    But ok. You could have been nicer about it. You were still mean/wrong but you could have nicer.

    Not to mention saying that "this would be bad even on..." How is that not shade??

    @AndSoWeCode please. Read the whole rant. Word for word. And tell me if you feel it's still just a q and a.

    I'm not expecting an answer. Not even encouragement. Just advice on how to think these things through. That's it.

    So if anyone is turning something into what it isn't here... Sorry but it's you.

    @al-m "how to get comfortable with algorithms and problem questions " - start simple, do enough of the simple problems to make them routine and solvable while dead drunk and half asleep, learn to divide and conquer, then divide, and conquer.
    To make learning systematic, one could start mastering one data structure at a time. Understand what they are, how they are organized, what you can do with them, and what's the cost.

    If you stumbled upon an exercise that's too hard for you, then it simply means that you need to do more simpler ones, or rest for a bit and get back to it on the next day.

    Anyway sorry. For going all defensive and everything.

    Tune in next week for more Real Housewives of DevRant

    @al-m ok, if you insist, let me show you my perspective.

    This is KhanAcademy
    https://khanacademy.org
    It's a site dedicated to teaching people of all ages, mainly JavaScript, in a fun way. It's been adopted in many schools, so there are a lot of angry kids there forced to learn but that don't want to. There are also people who want to learn, and people who know things very well, and just want to help, like I did for a bit.

    There you have a Q&A section, where people ask all kinds of questions, and others answer them.
    https://khanacademy.org/computing/...
    This site is IDEAL if you want help on a project or want to learn something from scratch.
    But even there, if you read the rules, there's this one that's against the rules:
    "a homework question"
    This is true for many sites, and questions starting with "solve this for me" are the most notorious of this kind. Ask for help, not for someone to do your work/homework.

    With that said, I hope you enjoy KhanAcademy. 'nite

    @AndSoWeCode thank you very much. I'll try using that to get better.

    I appreciate it. :)
