Am I the only one who thinks win7 is better than win10 ?

    No, but I dont understand why

    No, it was the last relative good Winblows OS

    @xialady
    no metro UI
    No random updates
    Just overall cleaner
    Less bloat
  • 3
    You are not alone, 7 is way better for me
  • 5
    that's why I didn't upgrade from win7 to win10
    So no, you're not the only one

    @Artemix hmm win 10 searches quicker for me and colleagues than any windows version before.
  • 2
    No, you are not, elders and banks love using outdated software. Win10 has a lot of nice improvements especially in battery life, ram usage, WSL, Adobe Experience Design, instant patch for all retards via forced update - thats all that comes to my mind instantly, theres probably more.
  • 3
    @JoshBent governments love outdated software as well
  • 1
    @Artemix Any windows search is shit compared to "everything" by void, so thats one of the most idiotic answers one can push towards using outdated software. Also you can remove or not even activate Cortana at all to begin with, it sounds like PEBCAK honestly.

    @Codex404 True
    @Artemix That means you use whats called "raped" Windows 7, where you deactivate all visual styles etc. - win10 is working on chinese devices that have 512MB I saw before - if you use the "rape" version.

    @dfox please.. double comments 😖

    No social shit, no collection of personal data in unknown quantities, that's why I prefer Windows 7. But I admit Windows 10 has far better UI.

    7 is good, 7 is life.

    2 control panels. Wonder who thought that would be a good idea? Cuz people really needed another way to change system settings.

    @Artemix that happened on older machines I remember with the first batch of win10 rolling out, but they did some dark magic and it worked afterwards (literally like a day later iirc), its really not that big of a deal as many here make it seem, just because your linux distro fatal'd doesn't mean you changed to windows, right. (to give an example of how funny it sounds to switch back just because of a bluescreen, which probably was just old ass drivers or other weird first illnesses, anyone, especially with linux encounters [*nvidia*])

    @sslPoodle windows 8 is def. the vista of its time, all the problems with drivers and what not I had with it, is just vista like.
  • 0
    @sslPoodle Vista wasn't terrible post SP1. And pre-sp1 was only due to some bad backwards driver compatibility. Vista on machines designed to run it (ie not vista capable, but vista compatible) was quite solid

    Original windows 8 was a steaming pile of shit. Dirvers? Shit. UI? Shit. Running programs for windows 7? Shit. 8.1 rectified most major issues imo but, though they should've backported windowed metro apps

    @squirvel to be honest I miss windows 8 on my surface pro, the touch controls and search and keyboard everything was so much better..

    @Artemix that's really odd I installed windows 10 by now on the most weirdest machines even things like tv sticks (or are they called compute sticks? not sure anymore) and even there it was running fine and never death screened me, did you try to fully wipe, since sometimes I did get weird things happening, but after a full wipe and install it all worked fine.

    @Artemix so it was a new laptop with windows 10 preinstalled on it and it bluescreened on you? to be honest I call bullshit, if you didn't screw around with it or get it from a sketchy place that sells "new laptops".
  • 0
    @Artemix well re-sealing / changing packets is a thing, but thats just thinking too far imo. As I said it just sounds like bullshit, since the "trustworthy website" had to probably screw around with it somehow, although as I said even the most shitty chinese convert tablets running windows 10 on the most garbage hardware were running 1080p and some shitty games just "fine". Did you even check the log or just got immediately scared and wiped it to win7?

    @JoshBent dude ms should be paying you, I’m using win10 atm but it’s shit. Seriously 2 control panels? Also still getting bsod once in 4-5 months..

    I never had any bluescreens with Win10 and I didn't encounter many bugs. That said, it's pure shit compared to Win7. I don't really care about facebook, candy crush saga, twitter, cloud, flat design, ransomware, personal asistants and other modern trends, I just need the OS to run some software, and running that software without interruptions is the most important job I expect from the OS. Win10 has other priorities. So I prefer "outdated" software that doesn't kill running applications without my permission.

    @neriald I only use the second panel whenever I need to reach windows defender settings, for everything else "control panel" is fine enough. But again I am not running win10 on a dryer or a pager, so I had never any problems like that. Maybe check your PSU or OC Settings as your PC might be just choking.

    Windows 7 was a nightmare for me. Windows 10, on the same machine, runs way better.

    @Droepal that is what I like, makes it easier for users to install software and dont ruin your PC.

    I've uses both they are just tools. Most of the time I've had issues it was due to anti-virus software or bad drivers. Ever tried to find the right driver version on another OS? It isn't any easier. Mostly it's your expectations of it that cause you to think it isn't a worthy tool.

    In terms of UX it's the best in my oppinion, but it has some security issues so I'd rather stop using it
