I think I had another insight.

Long story short, you're not the main character. You're not an NPC either. You're a spotlight!

Looking at yourself in the present doesn't make sense. You're not gonna understand yourself this way. In general, you're nothing but a history. In the present, you're an unbiased observer reading a history book.

This way of thinking is hard to pick up, but in a nutshell, for every emotion you feel, ask yourself: "Where did this feeling come from?"

This framework immediately takes the guilt away. It is what it is, the history doesn't entertain what-ifs. Once you memorize your own history word by word, only then you can really understand yourself and be free of trauma.

    @ostream where did this opinion come from?

    nah. you're just one further manifestation of "things just happen, what the hell"

    Do you know what happens if you wake up? Stop being an NPC? The other NPC's will attack and "help" you back to sleep. Before you know it you're reading the one narrative news again and discuss climate change with your friends. If you ever wake up - hide it

    @ostream getting PTSD flashbacks when he reads the word "NPC" lol

    @SidTheITGuy yh, you got him good that time. He was like "I'm not an NPC, I'm for vaccination, care account climate and against racism" and then he found out..

    "In the present, you're an unbiased observer reading a history book." Your statement is brilliant. It reminds me that our lives in and of themselves are fluid. You can stand on a dock on a lake at eighteen years of age marvel at the completeness of nature. Ten years later standing on the exact same dock you worry about the interest rate on your new vehicle and wonder if you got hoodwinked.

    For me, the present is I am very much a biased observer, mindful always that events that seem so much of the moment today will barely be remembered in a year's time.

    @bols59 thanks! 😊

    You _can_ be an unbiased observer of your own biases you demonstrate while you read the history book by asking "where did those emotions come from? Why do I think of it this way? Lemme find it in the book..."

    @kiki I reckon there's an untapped market for Zen koan t-shirts. We could show the world how it's done! 'KIKI'S Koans"!!! (I'm only joking because I think going after personal financial reward goes against every religion except Crypto.)

    @jestdotty repeat the line "vaccines are safe and effective". What are they safe and effective at? And for WHO?

    @jestdotty it is funny to watch all the triggering. Like it is not okay to have different opinions or different sets of information. I am just gonna start responding with 🤣 to stuff. And the lame straw men attempts are hilarious.
