One day at a doctor who started a small conversation:
Doc: What is your job?
Me: I am a software developer, I write computer programs basically.
Doc: Interesting. How does it work?
Me: Oversimplified you have special languages to tell the computer what to do and then this is converted into a program you can start on your PC. The languages are a bit like basic english (thought of Pascal at this moment).
Doc: So then it is a pretty simple job.

Me thinking: OMFG yes that's why I studied it 6 years, because it's soo easy.

Me thinking at home: Next time tell them that you are a computer scientist and that it is applied mathematics basically. Maybe then they will get a clue of the complexity. 🤔

    @gitpull oh now got it.
    No it was at the doc to check if you are fit for military duty.

    It was a few years ago, already. ;)

    @gitpull you should denote alternatives in your sentences using EBNF. 😋

    @MrThompson *gets confused* what?

    @gitpull I have replied "???" first because I did not understand your comment. Then I got it and edited it.
    Your "he, she, third gender" confused me. Please use proper EBNF syntax like:

    Was placeholder lmao about to give you pain?
    placeholder = he | she | third gender
    🤣

    My 'what' was rather related to the EBNC syntax. I've never heard of such an abbreviation.

    @gitpull ok lol. But I will skip the "let me google that for you"-link for today. :D

    Dude, you should answered him : It seems easy to you because my explaination was so clear even a kid can understand it, well curing people is easy as well

    What I think: The chance of people dying when you do your job wrong is many times lower than your doctor's. I still think being a doctor is way more complex than being a software developer 🙃

    @blauesocke I don't agree. I think it's about the same in terms of complexity, possibly even less complex. But the problem is that doctors don't always have the luxury of stopping to google something and the stakes are much higher (usually) in their job. Obviously if you're programming pacemakers or something the stakes are higher for you than a doctor, but generally they'll be much lower.

    @blauesocke Not if your are developing the software for the respirator. 😁

    Try this one?

    "Computer science is applied lambda calculus.

    Remember multivariable calculus in college where four variables was difficult? My current project has hundreds."

    (That's a bit over-the-top. Haha.)
