I'm wondering whether Google is doing just that.

Good/bad part about our industry is there are *a lot* of very smart devs who constantly try to build the next rube-goldberg machine. The more complex/convoluted the machine, the more recognition+money+prestige they get and sadly set unrealistic standards for the rest of normal humanoid devs.

You only realize it now? Native android development has always been like this. You spend more time dealing with deprecation and keeping up with new shiny methods rather than actual coding. They changed their mind on how things should work on every new release. Fuck android.
