The same person who nearly drove me insane last year still doesn't know what Google Chrome's Incognito mode is, after several people showed her what it is and how to use it. Also sent her screenshots of how to open a tab in Incognito mode.

She was hired for tax benefits to the company, nothing else. Dead weight.

    Out of morbid curiosity, does she understand the concept of a filesystem? As in, does she know about file paths and folders, that kind of thing?

    Was she the same person who doesn’t know kindergarten level software engineering concepts? Amazed she’s still there

    @cuddlyogre Nope, she doesn't. Once we were doing a pair programming session and I asked her to undo something and she didn't understand what Undo was. I am not making this up.

    @TeachMeCode yup.. I am amazed too, they signed her up for an Angular course, but I doubt she'll be able to do anything useful with it, because she couldn't even do anything with the HTML and CSS course she did when she started there last year after 4 months.

    Umm this is a new record. She’s not only lacking in basic coding, she doesn’t even have joe shmoe computer skills. Does she at least know what the mouse does? Not sure what she’s doing there when she doesn’t even know how to use a computer

    i'm curious what position results in a tax benefit that is higher than the associated wage 🤔

    I also want to know how she got through the interviews. There probably wasn’t a tech interview bc she never would’ve passed bc in order to code you have to know how to use a computer….

    Was she hired for her physical attributes or something?

    @dissolvedgirl My condolences.

    What do you mean by taxes? Does she have a disability?
  • 2
    She has to have a sub minimum wage salary if she’s saving on taxes while hired as a “software engineer” who doesn’t know basic computer usage beyond elderly parents at a library

    @TeachMeCode cooking the books then?
  • 1
    @TeachMeCode Yeah I also want to know, because I was part in some other interview processes with other candidates and had to ask them technical questions and such, but one day I was told of this individual and got her dumped on me and I only got to see her CV once I asked for it twice. Suspect, no?

    @ars1 Probably a cognitive one, I guess. I don't know

    @Demolishun Yup. Hired because of particular immutable biological factors, and I get discriminated against based on the exact same immutable biological factors in my country. Society is a fuckin dumpster fire. why can'y they just hire people who are interested in the job and are cognitively capable?

    @dissolvedgirl did she even write the resume? I’m still weirded out she chose a software engineering position or maybe someone else chose for her. That or her parents are wealthy country club buds with the ceo

    Like can she even write a loop? I mean learning on the job is one thing, lots of good devs find themselves researching things they’ve never seen before but they at least know the basics. They shouldn’t have to be given courses on how to do basic coding, idealistically those who can’t do the basics should be let go immediately. Especially for taking the role from someone who can actually do it

    @TeachMeCode she has a math degree and her results are below average for that degree. I was included in previous hiring interviews for interns and had to ask some basic technical questions. I asked the one guy if he knows what a 500 HTTP response code is and he explained it perfectly. She, on the other hand doesn't show any interest in computers, not sure why she's here and how my manager found her.

    @TeachMeCode Right? I have about 7 years' programming experience and still need to research stuff. If you're interested in a career working with computers, I expect someone to at least know basics and how to use a fuckin browser.

    @dissolvedgirl yeah that’s weird. I used to think she’s just stupid but having a math degree is impressive, that’s a really tough degree to get. But I guess it depends on where it’s from. She’s definitely got brains, she just has to find something else
