The people bashing PHP are mostly js or python devs... Like those are better.

As a PHP developer for many years I can say it is a very bug free system now and in some cases it's actually ahead of the game (libsodium in the core anyone?) and it's performance is getting very close to HHVM now and with php 8 it's expected to have a JIT compiler or an API that a JIT compiler extension can hook into.
