So I have 1mb/s internet that cuts out every ~5 min - i had to wait for internet connection to load the speed test.

I am just outside London - internet speed should not be bad, i am not exactly in the middle of nowhere

@Bitwise why would you need to hide that?

@Bitwise apparently it doesnt, so why would it matter?

did you consider getting a 4G cat6 router? you'll get 300mbs down and 50mbs up over the cellphone network.

@-ScratchOs @Bitwise you can compare carriers coverage with https://opensignal.com/

if one looks promising on opensignal you can buy a prepaid simcard to test your coverage at home. 😉

@Bitwise you can attach attennas to 4G routers that way you'll get surely more than 10mbs

    Who's your ISP?

@Bitwise You'd be surprised, but I actually know a lot of similar pain from the past, what I did and will hopefully help you too; use a vps to fetch everything that doesn't have a wget hack of some sorts (I am really sorry but I can't right now find that shitty script I had for dropbox, googledrive etc.) and upload to the destination server, use something like https://mosh.org/ it really does wonders for when your internet really shits itself or is too slow to transfer everything just now - for calls is it really necessary that your webcam """works"""? also what about having a tiny seperate machine on just your mobile network for video conferences?
