Loved it, I'm already spreading the word.

Installed my own dev enviroment locally using apache, mysql, php7... Masked my production folders to be automatically accessed through .dev domains via browser. Created the same enviroment at work.
At home, I own a macbook, and at work an imac, both with macOS Sierra. I just switched from Brackets to Visual Studio Code as my IDE of choice. And git/github for version control. -
I guess we can use the api to get the posts, right?
We can loop through it counting the number of unique authors/commenters/++s ids.
This way, we would only miss the ninja users, the ones who just silently watches everything and never ++ a post.
DAMN YOU, NINJAS! -
I'm not a master of OOP, but as far as I know, static classes can't be instantiated (at least in php, last time I checked, may vary from language to language? I hope not).
There's where the charm of this pickup line lies, love does impossible things, as instantiating a static class...
Or maybe love wasn't a static class to begin with. ;)
If it were abstract, it can be instantiated, but it demands implementation. Thus, we would have a different interpretation of love.
Andddd I think I went to far explaining the joke. :D -
"Oh my... Thank you, sonny! I'll hang some clothes in it right away and see how fast they dry!"
-
Here comes Windux and Angular#.
-
;;;; What about Lisp? ;;;;
;;; We can use them at the beginning as well ;;;
;; just saying :) ;; -
We've all been there.

Dash General Assembly have some good free courses, with a nice presentation, like codecademy.
But I seriously doubt that subscribing to any of these sites would help much. They are good to give you a general idea of gow things works, and then, it's better to get some free tutorials, articles, and everything you can chew that's from pro's of this field over the internet, to learn how they work.
The problem is, codecademy, codeschool, and similar sites don't teach you the best practices, or how to tackle a real project, how to apply mvc in webdevelopment, etc.
That's why we reccomend to avoid spending money with them.
Good luck with your studies! -
It's really a pain in the ass to get the hang of modern tooling for web/app design, and make them all work together...
-
It's WAY faster then npm to install dependencies.
-
@ItsNotMyFault That's a relief... I just started studying Angular 2 and Ionic 2 this week, been waiting months for it to get released so I could start experimenting with it for real.
-
Shit!
I just hope they don't change everything, AGAIN. -
I always say that when I'm working with the back end, is like when a mechanic is dealing with what is under the hood.
Connecting cables, wires and everything else, so that the car can work. -
You can make it in your github page, using jekyll or hubpress, there's a lot of tutorials out there.
I haven't messed that much with it, but jekyll is surely to be fun to learn, and it'll probably give you a good first post talking about the experience.
You can also look into surge.sh, it's great for static projects, jekyll would probably be a good fit for it as well.
If you're feeling lazy, there's always tumbler. It's actually pretty customizable due to enabling the user to edit html and using shorttags for content.
Good luck! -
I just been there...
Finished refactoring a whole Php framework I created to OOP, for easier maintenance, and after some testing, it's live.
IT FEELS SO GOOD! 😁
No more scope problems, no more requires and includes! -
Adobe Brackets is my weapon of choice.
It's free, open source, fully hackable, loads of extentions, language and preprocessors support, Emmet, even has live preview for those who don't have a local development enviroment setup...
Makes my life so much easier. -
Good luck, man, I feel your pain.
I'm in a similar situation right now.
Sometimes we NEED to walk out the door... -
Most of the "developers" here in Brazil are exactly little this.
-
Exactly!
Bootstrap can really speed up things, but...
Most people use it like a crutch, so there's too many websites that look the same bootstrappy way over the internet...
The same navigation menus, buttons and everything else. They probably even don't remember how to work without it.
I still use it to solve image display and alignment problems, but that's where I draw the line. -
Google "driverpack online", drp.su if I'm not mistaken.
Useful for auto identification and driver install of hardware.
If everything else fails, you can always ditch Windows altogether. -
Html at 14.
My background is in advertsing/art direction/graphic design.
Always thought programming was out of reach for me, like rocket science.
Started a real carrer at coding at 32, about 4 months ago. Boss asked me to assume the Webdesign slot and gave me a a free get out of jail card, in case things went sour.
Learned a LOT these last 4 months, mainly dealing with Html, Sass, Js, Php, Wordpress, Twig at work. At home, I'm currently trying my hand at Unity and C#, doing my own indie game project.
Never been so tired, but I've never been happier. -
I use Dash and download every documentation in the database, just in case of a zombie apocalipse or something.
That might help. -
Install the timber plugin and use twig to mvc the shit out of wordpress.
It's something. ;) -
I like to listen to instrumental music, jazz, classical, rock, post-rock etc.
For me, it's important that it contains no lyrics, so I won't get distracted. -
I've disabled notifications for Facebook and Twitter long ago. I only use them when needed.
Productivity was better for a while, until DevRant came along. -
Yeah, but I've been with her for a solid 3 years relationship, almost upgrading her yo wife 1.0.
And yes, the S in girlfriends was a typo, obviously. I'm a programmer, afterall. -
All the time, but my cat is way bigger and clumsy. He always manage to close some windows, change music or hit obscure shortcuts that make a mess in my laptop.
