Hah! No it’s fine, I think I’ve just managed to get myself into a lot of bad projects in my career and I get a little bummed out at the thought of not being able to find myself in a project where the codebase is ok, the development process is also part maintaining and refactoring for programmer happiness. I also feel like there’s a pretty significant turnover rate in consulting projects so when you do stumble upon something that seems impossible to fix you can’t really find anyone with more than 9 months experience that can help you.
-
@ArtOfBBQ I think that's a fair assumption. I think my hope is that a company, who's product is what is actually being coded, would put in greater effort into making a stable and workable environment for developers. As in, greater than a consulting company who's main goal is to make sure that they can squeeze money out of you by the hour, no matter how soul crushing the work you do is.
-
Smart money can look past a nervous presentation. You better hope that your investers and stupid!
-
How much money do these assholes actually make off this stuff?
-
Is that the highest price allowed on the play store?
-
@Codex404 I’ve experienced working in a room of three other people who also happened to be my real life friends, and we also had a chin up bar. It was amazing, but every place I’ve been at since has had open office plans. 🙁
-
@SortOfTested As a youngling, this is depressing to hear...
-
(I 👏 might 👏 settle 👏 for 👏 a 👏 shared 👏 office 👏 but 👏 no 👏 nevermind 👏 I 👏 want 👏 my 👏 own 👏 workspace 👏)
-
Coding was my hobby until I started working as a programmer. I can’t imagine anything I’d be excited about doing on the weekend after having done it for 40 hours already. Also economic incentives ruins most things that are fun.
-
Yes :/
-
Hey, if context is key, why don’t you... you know, give us some context?
-
@odite They teach that at business schools you know
-
@Jilano ok sorry I will start tagging my future posts with “irony”, I thought the “don’t @ me” was enough but it seems I overestimated devrant.
-
@velezhanski jesus did I kill someones dog or something? I hope you do see the irony in you claiming this to be a friendly community while everyone lost their shit at an ironic post because it offended their favorite framework. xd
-
@yellow-dog Shit opinion also didn’t ask
-
Haha I think the harsh tone with which you react to this says more about yourself than me. It’s all in good fun people, relax.
-
@bahua your analogy proves my point though. I didn’t say they weren’t both shit. Just that nuts is way better than corn in every single way. Also don’t @ me.
-
@LOLjustCoding let me finish that sentence for you:
... would think that Vue is better than React. -
Is this devRant or Medium?
-
@Meetife what does your gorgeous non-tech female think about you day dreaming about meeting someone else? 🤔
-
Get rich bro
-
I’m hoping every day that this happens to me xd
-
I just got a good look at why software can be a toxic work environment for women. Thx
-
I dont know one single developer who started coding before he was 16. None of them are bad, you seem to overestimate your profession. But since you started this argument with the old “you won’t change my opinion” I’m gonna head out.
-
You dont have to decide on a career when you’re a kid. Neither should you expect the kids career in coding to end bad just because he isn’t showing signs of loving it. Have a look around, most people do this because they need a paycheck.
-
So your coworker wants you to create a separate component in which you would import the component from the UI library?
-
These people are not worth your time. GTFO asap.
-
@AlmondSauce if there’s enough folders for 200 .DS_Store files, I would say it’s time to add some basic restrictions for version control.
-
@halfflat Glad to hear that! I truly believe that a lot of companies would benifit from letting people work remote ~2 days a week.

Sounds like you've been at a startup with a narcissist running the show. I've been there. Good for you for quitting.
