Caffeineinformer rates that thing at something like 730mg of caffeine/12 ounces. I have a bag but it usually just makes my adhd worse and makes me less productive 😅
-
@daintycode stack underflow. The nuber of hours you'll have to work is undefined :P
-
My first rpi (rpi 1 b) litteraly bent its official NOOBS sd card to the point of it being unusable. Spent like two hours trying to find the problem because my pc's sd card reader slot, being a lot tighter, squeezed the card into a temporary working condition, which made me dismiss the card as a source of problem...

@math-silva yeah, you can easily find forum posts and tutorials saying 5v works fine for the data pins and they are correct but I will probably shorten the life span of the device considerably. I'm quite lazy so most of the testing I've done on this chip used the 5v directly :P
-
@saintograph @math-silva the uno does have a 3.3v output, but it has a max current output of 150mA, which might not be enough for the esp under load. Also, the data pins are always running on 5v and, since it is using the uart protocol, which pulls the pin high when on standby, it would probably be a good idea to get those pins down to 3.3v to help the chip last longer. I guess a simple 1k-2k resistor voltage divider should do the trick.
-
I don't see any resistors on that breadboard... You do know the the esp8266 runs on 3.3 volts right?
-
@coolq I'm not at home right now but I do have a model of a devrant stress ball (an the devrant logo). I can upload them if you still haven't found one :P
-
@BindView he is using an esp8266 which is a really cheap microcontroller with wifi capabilities. You can use it as a standalone device or hook it up to an arduino for wifi integration in your projects :P

@Snatchedd @Pointer I do quite like the points being made here. Judging it as a programming language doesn't really do it justice since it is, as you guys pointed it out, way closer to a great calculator than a programming language. That being said, I still dislike it's messy syntax and, being more of a dev than a scientist, would much rather use Python with its bezillion math libraries.
-
@nixclusive0 How could I explain that quickly... Well, what about the fact that matlab doesn't adhere to any kind of logical/standardized conventions? It uses ~= instead of !=, indexes are confusing and start at 1, it doesn't support ++, etc. Worst of all, it's a proprietary software and licences are ridiculously expensive.
-
Pros of helping a friend with his programming homework :
You get to learn a new language!
Cons :
It's matlab... -
*cries in Python*

WTF where do you guys live!? My contract is 70$/month and I have 4gb... Oh and where I live that's considered a pretty great deal :/
-
@darxor Canadian people are often stereotyped about being overly polite so I added a couple of cli aliases to be a bit nicer with my computer.
-
I use both. For quick scripts and most automation tasks, sublime with sublimeREPL is sufficient and I prefer the less bloated interface of a text editor over an IDE, but when I do things like machine learning/deep learning, the variable explorer and the debugger in pycharm are a must.

Have you ever tried to publish a facebook app? It's even worst... They have absolutely no support for devs beside a badly moderated facebook group. Something I made got rejected with a message saying it was in violation with their policy... How the fuck is that supposed to help me to fix what is wrong? After 5 attempts (taking 1-2 days each) at modifying small parts of the project to fix the issue I got tired of it and just started publishing the exact same app every day. After 5 more day, it randomly got accepted...
-
Cuber here! Used to be a pretty big hobby for me. I have probably over 30-40 cubes :P
-
I'd say mac for cs related stuff and surface for regular school stuff. Having the stylus in a note taking app can be really useful. If you don't think you'd use the touch screen a lot, the mac seems a better overall choice.
-
@Greggergalactic hadn't thought about that... Well, I had some homework to do this afternoon but I might just design and print one of those instead :P
-
That kind of thing is un-bear-able!
-
@dfox @trogus
-
@rainmitchell Ok :P I have a makerbot clone which works in the same way. Are you basing it off an other reprap or did you make the whole design?
-
@rainmitchell Oh you're courageous xD I'm going to bet that you're doing a prusa i3 style printer right?
-
Nice! What printer did you buy?
-
@RazorSh4rk Well, I installed it but it's reeeeaaalllllyyy sluggish. I've read online that this is common with mint cinnamon on VM. Might install LMDE later tonight.
-
@RazorSh4rk linux mint is based on ubuntu right? With all the hate people have towards ubuntu, what makes mint a great os?
-
@tytho @malek Old post but I feel like answering the question from the pov of a long time windows user who switched to linux and then osx in the past 1.5 year. The new mbp is, in my opinion, really overpriced for what you get but I really don't regret buying it. While the lack of hdmi and and sd card slot without an adapter kinda annoys me, Usb-c really is a great all around port. The keyboard is a bit hard on the fingers when you code for a long period of time (imagine just typing on a solid table all day... I'd trade a bit of thickness for more key travel). Besides that, coming from average windows laptops, I couldn't go back after using that amazing trackpad and that crisp, super vivid screen.
-
@Mitiko As I said, I haven't been cubing in a while so I'm using a decently old main, which is an aolong v1
-
Cubers unite! I haven't been cubing for a while now. I used to be sub 13 but now I'm probably sub 14-15
-
When you're not good enough to get a stress ball... I'll see if that prints tomorrow :P
