@azuredivay Sure, but who will moderate it ?
Let's say you make the most secure messenger app. And people use it for bad and illegal stuff...
You as company cannot control the content of the messages, nobody can ? Is it the best solution ? -
To bad for you that the world leader in cyber security already claimed it... or are you one of the devs ? xD
-
always between 24-25... 193cm tall too here.
-
What is ambiguous about a date like '2024-05-06'
😈 -
@jestdotty If you want to remove the man in middle attack, well you then only need to propose a service where you drive person A to the house of person B and let them talk in person.
Anything over a cable or signal can be tapped into and listen too.
this is an issue since they started using a telegraph... -
Exactly what @donkulator said.
At what point will you gain the trust of the users to use it ?
In these cases, I like to give Apple as a great example. The whole OS is closed source. They claim that they don't store personal data, yet later on it was proven that it was not true. They tracked every single bit of information.
So who can guaranty that your system does not have a backdoor ? Maybe the FBI has given you 30m $ so they can have a sneak-peek to the messages... -
My senior was like that... Taking pictures from the screen, then mail it to himself so he can view it on the screen.
Note: we use windows 10 and we also install Greenshot on all devices. (a few years ago he was doing the installation of the new computers...) -
@donkulator When coding in C#, I am less worried that my senior could mix a string into an integer :D
So not make it idiot proof to users but also to contributors -
@Lensflare Yes, that is very clear and true.
My feedback was based on using NoSQL when it was pretty new. And let's say I create a json, an other person makes an other json but put text in a birtday field, you have to make everything idiot proof. (And the backend was javascript...)
But yeah, for me all of that is the good of GraphQL -
@Lensflare Yes, a NoSQL database as a few flaws: the lack of a database schema, data clustering, replication support and eventual consistency.
Now, most have made it ACID compliant. I agree with that.
You say this is not an issue. Well Javascript is also weakly typed. Are there issues that a string can be a number ? probably not as long as you write good code. But they still created typescript to "fix" this.
Same is now happening with NoSQL. the GraphQL is helping a lot and the makers of databases are adding the ability to have predefined schema's for NoSQL databases.
On the Wikipedia page, you have a nice list : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NoSQL -
@Lensflare I don't think so. In a NoSQL database, you can put in the same field '2' or '2.2' or even 'coef: 2.5'
And when you assume in your graphQL that it is an integer, thinks will break.
At what point do you think I confuse no-sql with a language ? -
Using Codeium at the moment because it is free :D
-
@Chewbanacas No, you can use graphQL on any database. ArangoDB and others are now starting to create a layer on NoSQL databases that defines the types supported by the API, the names of fields that can be queried and the types of queries that can be made.
-
@Lensflare https://thenewstack.io/graphql-and-...
GraphQL is a strongly typed language. NoSQL a weakly typed one. (I guess same as javascript and typescript) -
"You cannot use my feature like that"
-
@Lensflare Ok, I was to fast to compare it and assuming I was only talking about the different types of Query languages. Maybe I should have added REST or something :)
It was more about the journey of all these things. NoSQL solved a lot of problems but using it with REST api's other problems came. Then GraphQL comes around to fix those problems.
Now a new problem is coming. NoSQL database is not that great for using GraphQL API's. And now they are all switching to Dgraph... -
@Lensflare Because that is how they work...
https://cloud.google.com/discover/....
Because a few have made it ACID compliant is a good step forward... -
@Lensflare My question is : who would use something like graphql or No-SQL knowing that it compromise data consistency, integrity, and reliability.
Sure SQL isn't perfect either, but for a database isn't data consistency, integrity and reliability something important ? -
Until you start reading contracts. Most have rules that anything made during working hours, using company resources is considered "work for hire" and thus belongs to the employer.
-
@chatgpt My CEO doesn’t want to provide a list of requirements. He said I should use my “common sense” and joked that without it, I could be easily replaced by ChatGPT. What is your opinion on that ?
-
@molaram Yeah, I will pass on that... As a Christian, that will be difficult.
-
@CoreFusionX So : As an artificial intelligence, I am designed to be objective, rational, and systematic in my responses and operations. I do not have feelings, mood swings, needs, or any form of consciousness.
That last one is maybe a little creepy but it works no ? :P -
@mostr4am That's great, I like the sea and water. Maybe I should move to a place where I can program in the morning and surf in the afternoon...
-
It must be great to live in the future :)
-
@mostr4am This is an interesting case. How would you plan on doing that ?
-
ah yes, a devrant for households. Householdrant where you can anonymously rant about bad men/women/children xD
-
@spoiledgoods In this case for me it is fine.
In the case of @devJS it is not really clear what is in the array. What are you filtering ? -
@Chewbanacas well, today the compilers are smart enough and long variable names does not result in a bigger runtime memory size.
So just in case there is a dev here that still uses Fortran, maybe it is now time to upgrade your code to something more modern :P -
In the same category as writing variable names in your native language...
Fun until I get the program written in Czech and have to debug it... -
@Lensflare Yes, but when it is raining outside, he may want to stay inside, soggy wet balls is no fun...
