I agree that paper is not the best medium for coding and the person was likely nervous.

However it isn't a hard problem to solve and is usually one of the first problems you solve in a CS course.

If it's a choice between a good windows laptop (HP Spectre or XPS 15) or Macbook, then I would say choose the windows laptop.

That being said (and what is most important, despite all the apple fanboys telling you to choose the Mac) it is the operating system you should choose, and not the laptop. Yes you can dual boot windows on a Mac but the hardware is not actually amazing (in comparison with a similarly priced Windows based laptop).

If you have never used OSX then I would urge you to try before you buy. Personally I cannot stand the OS, and it has many quirks that Windows users will find annoying. That being said, many people like OSX and as you can see by this thread alone seem to devote their entire life to its propagation.

So in conclusion choose which OS you prefer and ignore all the hype that is generated around either OS.

Lol this exploded. I personally use both Windows and Linux, for me, I use windows for everything I would consider "normal pc use" such as gaming, web browsing, word processing etc.

I also personally use Windows to code, however it doesn't matter what OS I use for this as all the JetBrains IDE's I use function the same on each.

I use Linux (not including Android etc) for projects on Raspberry PI and always on software such as servers.

TL;DR What I am getting at is that every OS has its use cases, and I wouldn't think of running a web server for example on a Windows (non server) machine. But equally I wouldn't game on Linux because Windows is much better suited.

People need to stop committing to using one OS for everything and slating others. Like the amount of work people will go to, just to make software work on Linux (using wine etc) that is so easy to do on another OS is ridiculous. Use the OS that best suits the task.

Yes Windows has its flaws. As does Linux, OSX, Android...

Pretty sick of seeing people complain about Windows needing a restart to update. Yes we all know that Linux doesn't need to be restarted, and that is great. Really it is. But I think if you look at systems outside of computers, such as Phones, Tablets, Wearables etc you would find that most of them, if not all, require a restart between updates.

Just really grinds my gears to see so many people crying because a restart is required when windows needs to update. And what is even more annoying is when it's compared to other OS' like Linux. Why can't you just let them be different, always comparing and contrasting.

Final note, I do 100% agree that the pop-ups as shown in their gif are annoying, and always appear at the wrong time, so Microsoft should look at this. Anyways comment rant over.

Yeah, testing would have caught the issue. The app is only a pet project though and if I was to do everything "the right way", I would likely lose interest in doing it haha.

@Kimmax I think for updates it depends on the permissions you have requested, if it's basic ones like internet then it's likely automatic. But a real person definitely does review atleast new submissions as i have had denials because of copyright infringement from a real person.

Yuuuuppppppp. It's all too common for those who like your app to not review, but you can be sure if the app doesn't give someone exactly what THEY wanted the app to do then they will just hit 1*. Like is my app really a 1*, no don't think so.

@nblackburn Yeah, it's ridiculous that people sometimes give apps bad rating for the simple fact that they are paid. You wouldn't expect to get games for Windows for free, so I don't see why Android developers shouldn't be able to charge for their efforts.

@uziiuzair Actually you're wrong. If you boot windows from a Mac it is forced to use the dedicated graphics, rather than use the intel graphics that is built into the CPU, therefore drawing much more power.

Also there are plenty of Windows laptops with excellent batter life, the XPS range spring to mind ☺
