Old Mac versions of Excel default to this mode. Normally, the base date for date calculations is January 0,1900. Dates are converted from integers, 0 being January 0,1900. However, using the 1904 system, 0 = January 1, 1904. Something about this being easier to handle leap years.
In any case, we use a Java program in Linux to convert Excel files into CSVs for data loading. This is the first time I've run into this issue in the 2.5 years I've been doing this. All the dates in this file I was attempting to load were exactly 4 years and a day off when I turned them into CSVs. Caused a little bit of confusion and chaos. And now we need to update our converter program for this new scenario. Fingers crossed it won't take all day.
SHOUT OUT: Thanks to my co-worker, @JustThat, for actually figuring out what was causing this.

It just occurred to me, but I wonder if all of these people actually know that they are scamming people? What if they are just hired callers given a cue card to follow? As in, the scammers set up the operations and outsource the actual scamming.
I just wonder if it's always the case that the person calling you knows they are trying to screw you over. I'm sure it is some of the time. But I wonder if sometimes it's just someone who needed the money and took some shady job as a work from home "telemarketer". -
Oh man, I relate to this so much.
What usually happens to me is, 6 months later, the client will come back with a question or complaint that makes it painfully apparent that they haven't bothered to look at this new urgent feature since deployed. -
@M1sf3t Good call. Carry on @Root.

@Root HOW DARE YOU! Blasphemy!
Calling Jason Bourne useless...for shame...

I've been "troubleshooting" my own depression and anxiety for years. Haven't quite figured it out yet, but here is my ongoing theory:
Your brain is constantly trying to maintain an equilibrium of neurotransmitters. If, for whatever reason, you get an excess or shortage of one, say, serotonin, you brain say signals to scale back or increase production, respectively. Those of us battling depression (or related ailments) must have something going amiss with this process. Maybe the brain overreacts when trying to balance out. Or is too slow to react. Or is struggling to find resources to produce necessary neurotransmitters, causing a lag.
Just my theory. I'm no doctor. But, I haven't found much help from doctors, to be honest. The improvements I've made in the years battling this have come from my own research. -
Fuck Microsoft. I recently deleted the last remaining Microsoft installation in my life and I'm looking forward to my future without it. Still got some work to do to get some of my favorite games up and running in Linux, but I still don't regret it.

Don't really have my hands dirty enough with git related activities to fully related, but I wanted to say:
A++ rant. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. I will never look at chainsaws the same way. -
Lots of good advice above. In attempt to add something new:
Don't be so hard on yourself. You gotta stay positive. I know it's hard, but a positive mindset is like a muscle. You gotta exercise it. Your mindset leads you subconsciously. So, adopt a positive one, and positive things will follow.
You have your whole life ahead of you. It's never too late to get it on the right track. If you are just graduating, you are young. You probably don't believe it. You probably feel like the world is expecting you to be at a 10 when you feel like you are only at a 4. Screw that. Do what makes you happy. I was 32 by time I realized I was living the life others wanted for me and not the one I wanted. I changed career paths, went back college, got a new job, and even a new wife...completely changed everything about my life. And it was all worth it.
Keep your chin up. Remember that life is just a series of lessons. You never stop learning. Choose a path that makes you happy and walk it joyfully. -
@Ximidar Hahaha exactly! Thanks! I needed a laugh.

Currently running i7 and have historically always had Intel processors.
That's an interesting insight. -
I've most definitely been fucked over by a Windows update.

Surprising how much disdain you see from just trying to be helpful.
