When you find out the not developer client has been making changes directly on live...

We gave one of our more 'difficult' clients a quote of 30days to rewrite alot of there application. Two hours later we are in a conference call and they have a 'great idea' they will come in for a whole day and share knowledge to speed it up.

For some reason the project manager has decided that it's a good idea for me to be alone in a meeting room all day with 2 people coming in and an 'expert' Skyped in to watch me programming and 'help out'. With all of there knowledge they think it will only take a day...

It's going to be a long Tuesday...

The end of today was hell...

Another company make changes to UAT for one part of the application and refuse to use VCS. This means we have to manually merge there changes in regularly. The developer in charge of this project left a few weeks ago and when someone new to the setup decided to pickup a task to re merge they accidentally did the scp command the wrong way around...

I probably don't need to say much more but we received MANY angry email and calls.

Just had full day of meetings as the only person who knows how this large application works is leaving tomorrow, the client has just given us a list of all they stuff they want done by Tuesday including releasing the person who is leavings half finished database changes involving renaming half the tables...

This is going to go badly

Just spend the last 2 hours fixing the email server for sites which get next to no visits and no one uses the contact form.

It's Friday evening FFS I don't care if it's a 'Company Priority' I just want to go home.

I have made 2 mistakes today.
1. Upgrading from Fedora 23 to 24 on a busy work day - it's taken over 2h now...
2. Trying to switch to a new TTY and launch GDM while it's updating - I now cannot see anything and live in fear of restarting.

Conclusion don't try and be clever with Linux, it will win

Forgot my headphones, I can already guess how my day is going to be.

I might have to try talking...

Just spent half an hour helping someone install my open source side project only to see more GitHub issues have been raised because the underlying application changed its schema without warning...

Please remind me why I do this...
