Actually, funny thing: I work on the system where it's the other way around. Backend is pretty well-written and generally just works while frontend is a mess. Pretty, but mess and usually not working very well.

I used to work under strict 8-hours-per-day regime in the past and really wanted to keep it that way in my current job. Unfortunately, pretty much all of my colleagues do overtime a lot and when I tried to talk to them about that I usually heard that it's not my business. But it kinda is, because now other people indirectly expect me to do overtime too. Even though no one ever forced me, there is simply a social pressure. I resist it 98% of times, but man, it's hard.
