@Demolishun Typically homelabs are your own environment at "home" (or some non production setup you allocate). It's meant to be your own playground to experiment and play with software and hardware solutions in a safe (non production) sandbox.

@NeatNerdPrime I would highly recommend it. Overall it was a pretty smooth transition. The only hiccup was setting up one of my self hosted sites that has its own ssl cert instead of going through LetEncrypt like the others. Certbot really spoils us 😅

Mainly due to procrastinating, school, work, and more procrastinating 😂

Hasn't been the smoothest transition. My velocity is being compared to guys who have been on the team for 3+ years. So far just been a recipe for hardcore imposter syndrome.

@ostream Pearson is a US company that sells it's learning platform to schools then charges students crazy fees for access to the platform and the books. The books are basically useless because they are also on the platform electronically.

@netikras I get what your saying but that doesn't make me hate the 30 years of tech debt I have to look at any less. Especially when it lacks quality of life features that make it easier to maintain, test, and support.

@Root I'm not saying it doesn't have it's strengths. It has served me well many a time.

I am saying that claiming tech debt from years of janky Perl hacks that have been put into production isn't a good reason for staying with Perl if there is something else that is more suitable for the task.
