All the legacy systems I have had to deal with had XML files similar (some with file extensions .txt ).. i built a simple parser utility just to format all those files to be converted to something easy on the eyes so i dint have to stab my eyes

step 1- get a privacy filter so no one but you can see the screen unless they are like right next to you

step -2- open notepad and type garbage so fast that people are impressed at your typing skills

step -3 (expert level) open multiple IDEs and switch between windows and type more garbage...this is when the crowd starts weaning...pretend focused and ignore some of the ?s while typing..

#2 ...if you are just starting out 2.5k may not make a big impact on your paycheck given the taxes but #2 will give you the freedom to do a lot more than #1 which ends up being called "experience".

@stackler lol, Makes sense on the job security part..As far as successor goes I think its WinRT but I recollect reading somewhere that it is COM based internally (only much cleaner) - which still to me is mind boggling but MS might have ironed out the well known issues. I cant speak to it much without having used it.

i have never have that happen and i have been using sql server for a very long time..what version are you on ? the performance drops when the disk is full and it does not allow writes but i have not had sql srv drops tables at random. Are you sure it wasnt some user?
