@linuxxx how about some beautiful code format porn, and before/after cable porn. Server rack pics. The opportunities are nearly endless. 😈🤓😈

https://google.com/amp/s/...
But I can't seem to find where the picture he posted came from. Or the prices. Probably just a clever meme. It is happening though. -
Oh good god, WHY?!?! I feel my eyes melting!
-
@Linux yep, I have the AP, switch and security appliance set up now. I love their Meraki gear.
-
I still get calls from them. It's hilarious. I faked my way through 45 minutes before ending the call with "well the power here has been out for about an hour... Would that be why I can't get the computer to turn on?" They yelled into the phone for about 30 seconds before a loud thud. I think they threw it across the room. Hahaha!
-
I'd totally do this, but use my new found time for new languages, side projects and maybe slide an hour or so here or there to game. Just think about other jobs (and more pay) he could have got if he'd just have stayed on top of his coding game.

Didn't care for the Orange but didn't complain. It's an icon, just deal with it or fix it yourself. Side note I do prefer the green insiders icon. 🤔

PC - Password
Laptop - Face and Fingerprint or Password
Phone - Bluetooth and Fingerprint or Fingerprint and Pin
I do this because it is illegal for US court to demand your password or PIN number, but they can require you to unlock your device with fingerprint or face (biometric). I have nothing to hide, but I have a right to my privacy. -
@IamGay6969 Red for critical systems (Production & Storage), Blue for infrastructure, Green for KVM, White for hot backups (Development), Black for my desktop. That's my color system for my home lab.
-
@Linux noise cancelling headphones, and one of those cooling gel neck bands. 😋 I could be in there for hours happily... Better than my current 9-5 anyway. I'm a mechanic, finishing up my degree though for programming.
-
Is it weird I actually enjoy cleaning up that kind of mess? I just did that to my home lab, spent half the day making custom length color coded CAT6 cables. Mmmm... Clean rack.
-
@xenira Just a thank you for looking e-mail. I did happen across one of their installers though. He said it's been a very bad week apparently. Lots of running around to re-gathering over 3 years of information. Lots of yelling in the office.
-
There's not a long enough beard option either... Lol
-
Remix OS is fun (but it's basically Android and not updated anymore)...
-
I am I the only one who has a problem with the 2 year oil filter?! That just hurts me... 5 month or 5,000 miles (if you run Synthetic)
</soapbox> -
Ahh... Having fun with an upside down can of air huh (computer duster)? I've never done that before *shifty eyes*
-
@bioDan I was just saying if it were to be updated.
I grew up with a 5 1/4" floppy and a commodore 64, so I know why we use it as the save button. I may be a programmer newbie, but I'm an old guy when it comes to tech. -
Adapt and overcome... Devs don't get days off
-
@rc5-asdf I had a prescription set of Gunnars... Loved them! I chose a bad frame for my head size and they ended up breaking 3 different times. I'll get another set in a few months but going for one of the metal frames rather than the plastic ones.
I did get a lot of grief for them, but the strain relief on my eyes was worth it... SO worth it. -
For the p0rn... 😎 lol
-
@Olverine since it was pretty universal, and portable... Probably a USB Thumb drive... They both are similar in usage... *shrugs*

As an American, happy Diwali. As long as it's something positive I don't mind one bit being wished it as well. Cheers!

Anytime Windows has a BSOD, restart the machine and immediately launch Powershell or Console as Administrator, then use the System File Checker, you'd be amazed how many times a system file just needs to be repaired/replaced instead of having to do a whole wipe and reload. I'll drop the command below. Cheers!!
sfc /scannow -
@simo002m It's always a good idea to understand any technology you use, and it sure wouldn't hurt your resume/CV. I'm pretty sure it's a requirement for sysadmin, but I'm not sure about data technician.
On a side note I only picked up programming to help script stuff when I was a network admin but after a few Windows batch files and a couple Python programs I realized that coding is what I really wanted to do. Cheers! -
@simo002m Yes. You'd have LAN (Local Access Network) connectivity only, but yes.
When camping I used to take an old Linksys wireless router, car battery and inverter. My buddies and I would all bring our laptops and play Age of Empires 2, and Call of Duty 1.5. A LAN party in the woods. Ahh the good old days... -
@fh3000 lol, if only
-
@ppetermann I can see your point. I'd never agree to something like that again. I don't know what to tell you other than it was how I had been trained at the time. It was my first IT job... What the hell did I know?
-
@ppetermann Answered that above, but small company, badly managed and very poor practices..
-
@atomicTurtle I tried looking for a way to restore, but there's not a way to do it once the trash folder has been emptied in Drive... I even went through all my local backups just in case. No luck. I sent an email back to "Debbie" but haven't heard back yet...
-
@illusion466 super small company and really bad (lazy) practices... The files I had were a copy from the employee I was replacing, from his personal account...
