I...I don’t know what I just read. 😐

@MrJimmy considering bugs like heartbleed exist, i’m going to say no.
I love open source as much as everyone else, but i don’t live in a fantasy world. The reality is open source provides a false sense of security.
Meanwhile 99% of devs be like:
“Oh, i’m sure some experts carefully reviewed OpenSsl, i’ll just trust it’s OK! They surely wouldn’t miss something as stupid as an extra goto statement.” -
on a positive note - now you know what questions to ask next time you look for a job 🤣

They’re both great, but if i can choose between JSON and XML, i’ll pick JSON...everything apache just has that legacy vibe 😂
-
I did as well, and i’m happy i did. But after you feel very comfortable with java, consider looking at some other languages like Python or Javascript to broaden your knowledge.
Oh and don’t take those design patterns they teach you TOO seriously. That’s mostly what’s wrong with the Java world...(e.g. Spring, Java EE, etc) -
@linuxxx Its personal preference. I happen to use Hugo w/ github pages. Quick to setup, i can pick a great default theme, and get started blogging right away.
Anyway here is a Hacker News discussion on this topic:

If they really insist on doing it themselves (wtf), maybe they could just use a VPS with mac OS? They do exist...
I can’t even fathom buying a macbook pro just to click buttons in xcode. -
@Pointer I wish. Let’s just say corporate has too much money at their disposal. 😂 I guess 64gb is useful for certain workloads though, like you mentioned!
-
@Pointer My macbook pro has only 8gb, still serves me well for most development. Once a month it might go over 8gb and the OS has to page to disk, but it’s reasonably fast due to the SSD.
My laptop at work has the opposite problem...64gb (not a typo) windows machine. A bit overkill hahaha -
@Pointer Fair enough. How does Mac OS run on your machine? Genuinely curious...your machine probably has better specs than most macbooks haha.
-
My opinionated thoughts:
I think you’ve purposely locked yourself in to the apple ecosystem (wasting time setting up Mac OS, using stuff like iCloud, etc). 😂
And (no offense) god help you with the shitty trackpad you probably have. 🤣
I have NEVER seen a laptop with a trackpad that comes even close to a macbook trackpad. Don’t even get me started on how massive the trackpad is on the new macbook, it widens the gap even more. Most laptops are unusable garbage without a separate mouse.
Me thinks you should just use windows or use an open source linux distro, if you don’t have a mac. Just my $0.02. But if you really love Mac OS...then OK i understand your choice. :-) -

Is the CPU extra?

Javascript isn't "bad", and with ES6 it's actually pretty good. The problem is there is a tool for every job. And a good portion of the JS community thinks Javascript is the right tool for just about EVERY job. That's why it gets "hated on" from time to time.
But I digress... -
some of these replies made me almost choke on my dinner 😂

@Numinex hint: look at the brand name ;)

sounds like chromebook is for you 😂
-
This could just be my personal experience, but when i violated Apple's App Store policies in the past, i was contacted by an actual human within 24 hours. I know people bitch about the $99 though 😂
Sounds like play store is way more automated. -
You know what sucks even more? Using Windows XP in 2017.
-
they'll get an expert alright 😂

Encourage the junior to ask more questions. Imagine how much time he would have wasted if you didn't check up on him!

Yeah the chicks digg the starving artist/writer types 😉
