Sitting at home doesn't mean I check my messages constantly, or even have notifications on. I'm busy programming, spending time with my gf, playing video games or reading. My time and focus isn't less sacred just because I'm home.

Im appreciating the detail that op has the same hair cut and skin color as linear algebra.
-
@eeee I'm impressed! You make it look so easy
-
This is so fucking funny, I gotta agree with jase on this one!
-
Hate to break this to you, but it's equally your own fault. If you give up and take another two days to «research», you are admitting that you did not exhaust all possibilities and do the research properly in the first place. This implies that next time you say you did the research exhaustively, he can't trust you and have to ask you to do it again. That email to the devs tou could also have sent the first time around. You have to stand up to your CTO and stand your ground on that you did it properly the first time. Make it clear that you won't research more because there isn't more to be researched, and say that you will be working on something else.

Inb4 ur npm modules is 100GB

@JhonDoe thanks for the honest answer, respect 👍
-
Cool story. But can you explain why the fact that he's «rich»/has a new mac book triggers you so much? I don't get it and it throws me off a bit (I'm not rich, I never owned a mac)
-
@Stuxnet Yeah, that's a sensible defence mechanism when you either don't know wtf is happening, or you know you fucked up. If you think it's embarrassing that you cared so much about it before, make sure that next time you take a moment and read what people are saying before you write up a wall of text in response. But good for you that you stopped caring! 👍 Have a nice day!
-
@Stuxnet you shouldn't be so defensive. If you think the little logic statement is cryptic (which I assume you do, since your previous response is completely illogical), let me give you a heads up. Saying that not using social media is a sign that someone is not looking for external validation does not mean that you think using social media means you are looking for validation.

@xewl I think you're still misunderstanding the point. The point is not to finish all your side projects, but to finish some of them. Allocating time between projects using this strategy will make it more likely that you finish something at some point, even if you keep starting new projects all the time, because of the point on the right. The point on the left is ment to keep you motivated to continue. Again, I'm not talking about finishing individual parts of a single project here. You are right, not all parts of a project is fun. But if that project is the one that is closest to completion, you just do it anyways because of the point om the right.
-
@xewl im not making any black or white statements here. You are: («... never finish...») Not really sure what you're trying to say, but I think you need to read my comment again.
-
@xewl think in terms of if you're having an ever increasing amount of side projects that never get finished, this is a valid strategy to distribute your time among projects to ensure you finish some of them. Not necessarily a good strategy for single items/stories within the projects themselves.

Seriously, centering is a breeze with flexbox. Learn it!

@douchebag name checks out! 😅

I have never ever seen a girl who places emphasis on her gender when describing herself as programmer or dev. Where do you find these people?
-
@johngreen you need to talk to someone, buddy? Are you ok?
-
@awelxtr he said «social» female friends, not «programmer» female friends 😉
-
Gotta play the devil's(client's) advocate here: If I was typing in numbers like that all day, all week, I would love to be able to not push the «.» key every time, because it's not on my num pad, unlike «,».
-
@HRT-713 good luck man, you're doing yourself a favor!
-
@HRT-713 unless your town is tiiiny, I bet there is some clubs out there that are just not so easy to find. If there is a library or a game store you should ask the staff there if they know about something. Seriosuly, ask the library staff about game clubs as well, not just book clubs.
-
Go to scheduled activities, or become a part of a club (tabletop gaming, board games, book club). Social skills need to be practiced, just like other skills 😊
-
@SubhrajyotiSen different scenarios? If you don't know the language already, yes. But I ment I'd like to test if you do indeed already know this language, at least the basics.
-
I might do the same if I made a test like that. And a question in C++.
Why? It says something about the candidate if they can/not solve problems in different languages, even if it's not part of the job to work in those languages. -
@g-m-f You're telling me ol' Sammy Fuckwit is a lie?? I'm heartbroken, man 😢 (on the real: anonymisation is a given on this platform, go you! 👍)
-
@tkytts unheard of! 😤
-
@linuxxx hey man, no one is shaming or blaming anyone for not remembering exact situations or phrasings! 😊 But then I guess the more one fills in the gaps, the more artificial/incredible the story sounds? 🤔 hmmm.
-
@Floydian There is really no hate or politics here. No names have been or will be mentioned.
Unlike what you are doing right now, I am not telling people what they should or should not post. I am just saying my opinion, without attacking anyone. -
@RedBorg yeah, that's basically how I think too, it just ruins the vibe in this community if its all about who can make up the best stories and get the most ++.
