Quietish team member sits quietly and creates the mother of all APIs, doesn't say much about it, doesn't document what he's done, falls out with the boss, leaves with 2 weeks to go before a beta release.
Already overworked dev/backend support team are plunged into manic bug fixing/business rule implementing/call standardising/chaos.
This is not how one devs.
Not one bit. -
Just please make the rule, if you don't have a cookie, don't show the pop up asking you to register for shit. If I haven't been to your site before, I DON'T WANT TO SIGN UP TO ANYTHING BADGER TURD!! Are there people that actually do that? If so, they deserve a whole evening talking to a project manager about their next great idea. Or, being flayed with a potato peeler. Which ever is worse.1

!rant
I've used JavaEE/jQuery/pure JS for so long, I'm crying out for some side projects using different frameworks/technologies.
What's good?5 -

I love that you can get Google to swear. In her oh so British accent. Voice search : 'what does FML stand for' -
Urge to rant rising, cap it, you will regret it later.....but I absolutely cannot believe the way some tech is formed.....complain later, but the urge to rant is becoming more important than what I was even doing.....meh. Go get a coffee and have a word with yourself.

Worst part of devving? Handling fucking time. GMT, EST, daylight savings, DHCP settings overriding the actual time because some fuckwit runs a server incorrectly, dealing with Voip phones and their super flaky time profiles. Fuck time.4

I'm still wondering how this app exists.... Where does the money come from? So.....curious. Maybe it's better I don't know. Love devRant :)

Argh
Help
If you know, a specific string is always going to be the same, and theres no way any other value could be passed to this statement. Is it still ok to use string.substring(0, string.IndexOf(&$&$))?
I feel dirty every time....1 -
sorry for lowering the tone, this did make me chuckle. later on the email he also used the phrase 'hit the ground running' and 'touch base'.....eww.3

always the same, while im in a part of the system, i notice an optimization that can speed up a major query which has to join a table which is about 4gb or something ridiculous. i make ammendments using partitions because they're in the defined on that table. test. everything cool. only to be told that theres no job to clear out old partitions so i end up reverting everything i've been doing which basically makes my day's total output == bollock-all. WHY DO WE PUT HALF BUILT SHIT INTO PRODUCTION!!!???2

arrrrrrgh status quo for a reason! how am i supposed to test anything if youre continually going to fuck with DNS??!!
-
my phone based set up. guess who provisions all the phones to our platform. then tests 9 million phones and takes the flack when users press incorrect keys or their internet goes down on site and it 'must be a provisioning issue'......this asshole.1

grrrrrr developers that think their math is superior because they think it is superior. im so sick of devs who cannot second guess themselves until proved otherwise. you might be wrong you know.....1

Come into work, 5 of our 18 employees have been fired. The boss stares at you with a gleam in his eye. This makes me want to program incredibly technical shizzle. Of course it does. There's nothing like a supportive work life balance :/6

please show me a picture of your new plane, and noisily remind me of how much your house is worth. I want to know all about your finances while working for a pittance because I believe in the company. I feels good to be appreciated, and toward the money that comes in from the apps we develop, so that you can afford these things. douche bag bosses. aaaarrrrgh3
