Why do you hate visual studio so much?
-
@electrineer I don't follow, what do you mean by that?
-
@hugo007 That's good to know, thank you.
-
@devdiddydog I'm not the biggest fan of Swift/Objective C but lately I've been experimenting with Flutter and I like it quite a lot.
-
@devdiddydog Yeah just for testing and building the iOS app. OpenCore made it a lot better but it's still pretty painful.
-
@kescherRant Haha yes that too!
-
I used to work at MCD. It's a computer in the closet hooked up. So yes it's chrome.
-
@flipflop Sometimes even that isn't working right lol
-
@saucyatom Yeah sometimes the VM just gets messed up. If you have support tickets, sometimes Microsoft can fix it for you
-
I literally felt your pain reading this. Been there.
-
Definitely not
-
@devTea O*n complexity problems screw me everytime. I could answer so many other questions but not those
-
Yeah and on the call with me today is our platform and installation guru *insert name here*.
Yet I'm paid a but more than the janitor lol -
OMG I know this too well. I ended up doing 6/7 different projects/roles while managing a team of 5 developers and never could get a raise or anything. Not even the resources required for me to effectively run it all. Thankfully that company is in the past now for me.

Not a chance. VSCode
-
I honestly haven't had many issues with Azure
-
Try 5 weeks, yes it's happened
-
@jalebiBhai @Fexell :/ just wow
-
@TylerDDevRant Your first guess would be correct. In fact she's the only one out of the entire company
-
@iSwimInTheC Nope. All of us, including the new person are all college graduates from the same local college. Most of my team has been there for about 5 years. This new employee has been here less than a year
-
True story, got recruited by them but they wanted me to physically be present in Montreal so I had to pass on it
-
A common sense but sadly neglected rule everyone should abide
-
@starrynights89 GitLab is pretty great. They have nice benefits over GitHub like mirroring and ci/cd. Sadly it just doesn't have the most traffic. If GitHub actually starts to fail or drastically change under Microsoft that could happen
-
@dontPanic Main problem is if you do mobile development or really any development that requires compiling for Apple ecosystem
-
My two cents is to virtual machine windows as others have commented. Plus that way you can run both at once and therefore share active data/sessions across them. It's great for xplatform app development.
-
@ThreadRipper I'm pretty sure the only reason you is that is if everything else is confluence too.
-
@silverstar It very well could be, although it's difficult to think of much competition consider most other technology providers have their own versions of source code control and repositories. Microsoft lately seems to be acquiring other companies and technologies to incorporate into their existing products and stacks. I'm personally leaning and hoping this is true haha
-
Is there any chance this could be a good thing? Merging GitHub and TFS technology would be great for companies that are stuck in the Microsoft world.
-
@C0D4 This I definitely agree with. Unfortunately Objective C and C really aren't taught in school very much anymore. It's definitely easier for new devs to grasp swift, kotlin, dart, xamarin, etc.
