AboutI owned both a MacBook Pro and a ThinkPad, I hated them both. Plus I prefer Windows to Linux. And yes, I'm fun at parties.

@devios1 Are you really? It's a nice meme but it sucks that people expect you to be some kind of an alien for working on what you like
-
@bahua Actually the person in question is a marketeer, they would probably take it as a compliment I guess

@pmso with teachers like ours, even a SELECT is hard to understand

@BlasterJoni This is comment is just understated 😂
-
@nobes Yes, yes it is! The laptop is actually sitting in the wall of the cable car
-
@gustavonogueira Yes, but in Gaia's side of the river.

Cais de Gaia in Santa Marinha, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. That's the wine shop from one of the most famous Portos wine celeries. Is across the street of the Douro river, right next to the D. Luís I bridge.
No need for geo tags or GPS when it's a picture of a "landmark" from your district 😂 -
@kgbemployee It's not quite "standard". It's smaller and uses PATA but it's the same as the original MBA.
YRW! There are also battery upgrade kits, you might want to check them also. Or even iPodLinux. -
@kgbemployee There are even adaptors to replace the HDD for a high capacity SD card (since they're waaaaay cheaper)

@billgates I have a Nokia 5 that I bought for 120€. It came without any carrier branding and pure stock Android with Gapps. I'm running Oreo since December (or even late November?) and although I'm in 8.0 without Treble support I already have March Security Patch installed.
In my opinion the most important thing you should look after when buying an Android phone (specially entry/mid tier) is software support.
I couldn't be happier with Nokia. The only thing missing really is the bootloader unlock but with monthly security updates and stock Android I'm not really that worried.
Can't wait to buy myself a N7+! -
Just try "f*ck marry kill". It's available as a web app and in the Play Store. It's super fun and you get tons of matches in the process. I had in my bio that I was an Engineering student and my avatar was a picture of me with my Scout uniform and I had like 60 matches in a little more than a week so it works.

@simo002m I tried several icon packs and themes before I picked a combo.

Cinnamon with a little more than an hour worth of work 😎

One of this for Visual Studio would be awesome!

I wanted to switch but my laptop has a 1080p 13-inch display and scalling sucks (on Linux) so I just run Windows 10 with Bash installed. Works quite well!

I once had a ThinkPad which had hardware issues and the support was absolute crap, even with an 2 business day warranty extension plan (they took over a month to send a replacement unit and it was faulty as well). I exchange it for a ProBook and so far the support from HP has been amazing (they even made me custom drivers once in order to solve an issue I was having with the hotkeys on Windows!).
I'm also trying to switch to Linux for my dev environment and so far I don't have any issue with hardware support on Mint Cinnamon (Ubuntu 17.04 with Gnome 3 is just too unstable for my taste), except for the fingerprint reader but that's known to be a hassle in Linux. -
@tracktraps Nice! While it's not a major upgrade, it's an upgrade non the less 😉
-
@tracktraps Weird, I have some friends in Tavira (it's close from where you are) and they don't have many issues with coverage.
-
@tracktraps That's really cool! Still, even when I go camping (I'm a river scout), I usually get at least 3G speeds. You must be in a really remote area
-
Gov websites are the worst
-
@tracktraps Do you live in the middle of nowhere? 40€ for those speeds? That sounds like a rip off (but I live in the city, so LTE and 100/100 fiber)
-
@kenogo rm -f on the Ubuntu on Windows bash also works!
-
@DrSwift Where?!
-
An enum for status? Oh God!

Check ou Dave2D on YouTube. He has some excellent reviews on laptops and I believe he has done a video on that price range

@SSDD @Jop- Nop, I'm pretty found of Windows since this is the laptop I use at college and most of my peers also use Windows (it's easier to share settings and setups if we all rock the same OS). I have a 3 display Hackintosh in my room tho.
