Why would you buy it instead of a PC/laptop? because it is way cheaper. And you can plug it to a TV/monitor and external keyboard when you are at home or at a friend's house just like a laptop.

The downside is that you can't upgrade it and it isn't compatible with everything. But if you don't have a PC with better specs and you just want it for playing, it is not a downgrade.

Learn something with objects, like C#/JAVA/Python, and a database, like SQL or MongoDB. Then if you want to get into web development check Javascript + node, and a framework like react or angular or vue.
