@netikras this is true, I have tried to communicate as much as I can, I'm also working on another project that has soaked my time equally, my own boss communicated to them that this would feed into me taking longer but apparently its an expectation for me to balance work and deliver both as the time they want, as opposed to what I drafted out in tickets to communicate the work involved
-
@Voxera yeah this is it. I said what would be done in the specific quarter, they wanted more. I'm the only engineer...
-
@jiraTicket ah true should just say dev, these specific titles are kinda meaningless tbh since we have to do everything anyways (cross-functional, yayee)
-
@jiraTicket I'm worried that since I'm still not an SME, I don't have any leverage to complain since not a core member yet
-
@jiraTicket it's just a term I see thrown around for devs and mentioned internally too
-
@jestdotty yeah... my tasks assigned are on Jira all documented, just hope it's clear
-
@spongessuck could be, just feel other manager gives very sudden deadlines for tasks that might take longer, like last night one wanting a full analysis by end of day, there was an hour left
-
@b2plane PEPE has new advisors that will make more PEPE memes, PEPE will soon rule the world
-
@b2plane I am the fake retard who can't code you just mentioned there. But yes ofc I'll have plenty of investment once my PEPE coin goes to the moon
-
@shelby you want to feel useless?
-
@jsframework9000 haha true that
-
@jsframework9000 now hired as a senior so have to pull my weight soon 😅
-
@AleCx04 far too expensive for what you get. Food scene is OK, though I'd say majorly overhyped by many. It is quite dirty, and the trains have had many strikes these days. I am very thankful for being remote because the London trains, specially the overground at peak hours, is an absolute nightmare. Barely any room in the train to stand, have to bend a bit. Very hot in the underground and very very noisy because of the underground being so old. Even my noise cancelling headphones can't 100% eliminate it.
There's also issues of security, crime is rampant, strikes are rampant, and the salary isn't as much as it should be. But either way, I stayed because my flat was cheap, terrible management but cheap, and I could be close to some family of mine. But not worth it anymore, rent rose twice this year, and they increased parking costs by a huge amount too. The lifts in the building were getting old, I even got trapped recently for 15 mins. -
@retoor no pets in flat :(
-
@MammaNeedHummus ty! Should help with cost of living crisis for a good month or so 🙃
-
My master plan is to buy back home (immigrant) and not just one, buy a couple, then retire there with rental income
-
@retoor oh I'm sorry
-
@retoor like best website or app to ask employees of a company to refer you? Ik there's LinkedIn but unsure if anyone would reply to a random stranger message
-
@aviophile bs as usual
-
After they say they can't pay as much as a small raise from current job
"So salary is the only reason you wanted this job? Not for our goals?"
If your goals were so valuable you'd have enough money to pay a bit more than my current job -
most youtubers are the latter
-
Didn't have a PO at the start of this job. Got one for less than a year, he quit. Back to just engineers doing everything (PO, dev, QA, SRE) and no, this isn't a startup
-
Skip one weekend and bam? Play when you feel like it bro. If its even for one game and you don't play it again, get it if you want. Unless your close to broke or something, this shouldn't be much of an issue. Play when you want, when you can. This ain't some job, it's for fun. Do what makes you have fun
-
So many choices here. You can go with any of Elementary, Pop OS, Zorin or even Fedora if you really want, though fedora might have some CLI usage. Linux Mint is also solid though
-
@Lensflare once when I heard this the first time and someone posted a very high salary, I was excited that there was some actual manga publishing company paying so much 😅
-
UK is shit, already mentioned, I'm looking for alternatives too, want to gtfo of here, US is tough, need L1 visa only way, US has big pro of very good salary
-
@Nanos yeah might as well go for it
-
@rodik can't wait to have a big beard and staff
-
@netikras yeah I feel you, it's just when everyone has said they got high expectations idk what to do
-
@Nanos haha yeah, issue of mine is that I'm decently experienced now and put on some high impacting project with other people from very senior backgrounds, so asking questions makes me think ill hurt my own position haha
