Apple does a good job with their chips, there's no question. However I've found that the real world application is more meaningful. I like the YouTube channel 'Phone Battles'. It does phone comparisons by running through realistic tasks. For example, holding apps in memory for a period of time, speed in opening and loading apps, ease of app switching, etc. It's interesting to see a $499 phone like the OnePlus 5T beat out the iPhone X in terms of ease, speed, battery, memory, and more. I'd rather a "slower" phone if it means better real world results.

Thank goodness for the "Scroll to Bottom" button. Never used it until now.

I'm in my twenties and still don't understand a lot of the sample code. That's okay. Just keep at it. Persistence is key.

My uncle is a project manager at Adobe. He explained to me once that Adobe never cracks down on pirates, and actually subtly encourages pirating their software because those people learn how to use it, then buy it when they're older. No kid can afford Creative Cloud, but if they're good they'll sure pay for it professionally or for a hobby when they're older.

Try www.eyebuydirect.com. If you have your prescription strength, you can order custom glasses for under $30. Completely worth every penny. I only know this because my wife sat on her last pair and our insurance was out...
-
That's super sweet of her. The fact that she put in that effort means she's the one. Put a ring on her!
-
Link didn't work. I think the website is down.
-
Don't put up with that crap. Have some self respect.
And tell your mom to get better friends. -
@iam13islucky I was working a low-key non-development IT job. Paid well enough for me to eat and have a roof over my head while I attended.
-
@iam13islucky Their curriculum and material is all free in GitHub. Mix that with a Pluralsight subscription and you have a solid self-teaching experience. Build something that interests you, and make a portfolio. The portfolio is most important in getting your first job.
-
@iam13islucky I did part-time, which is much cheaper and the exact same curriculum. There are a few DevMountains in the US, so your experience may vary. I went to the one in Provo, UT.
They offer free housing if you do the immersive program, however I think it's a shared w/ roommates kind of deal. For me it was 100% worth it, and I worked full-time while doing the part-time (evening) course. It is a chunk of change though, but they do offer financing. It's much better than paying 4 years worth of college for the same knowledge. They really get you immersed in it, and stoked for what you can do. They help out with employment after too. I recommend it if you think you'd enjoy it. -
*many dedication
-
To add to the confusion, it was 14 weeks when I went.
-
I went there. Great program, and got a great job after. The whole course is free, but the mentors and employment help is what you pay for.
With that said, I can't blame them for the misalignment. CSS is such a pain. -
The creators call it "jif"
The English language calls it "gif"
Do you respect the creators intent, or English rules? -
Turn it into a Plex server.

@MrCSharp When I had my old IT/customer support job, I found that approximately 100% of viruses and malware on computers were a result of downloading crap.
-
Same. Never had any update, BIOS, driver, or odd issues on my Windows machine ever. No viruses either. If you invest even half as much as a Mac into getting a good rig, and don't go trigger happy over random download buttons, you'll be fine.
-
Still not enough to power the AMD Vega 64.
-
I'd prefer that over the mobile app any day.

Best rant today.

That's the same realization I wish everyone would make BEFORE they buy. There's no advantage in upgrading every single year.

DevRant I see every single day:
Friend: What do you do?
Me: I'm a developer.
Friend: Then you can [INSERT one of following: hack email/fix all computers/break into NASA servers/remote launch nuclear missiles]?

It's good, but it's misaligned. If you can just do 10 rows of 10, with a 100 centered at the bottom, it'll be perfect.

You raised her right! My daughter is 4 months old. We've been reading the 'HTML for Babies' series to her. She loves it.
-
Submit that setup to Setup Wars. Gorgeous!

Android ≠ Samsung
It's like saying you're running HP, not Windows. -
Apple: There hasn't been an OLED panel good enough for us to use until now.
Samsung: Um...we've had it for years. -
That price doesn't seem right. Doesn't it start at $999?
