@fzammetti my rant has nothing to do with seniority itself. It's more about being senior (which, in this case, includes the ability to make conscious decisions and not focusing only on short time execution perspective), AND being in the same project for years, AND being unable to take a look on your existing work, then, even internally, identifying own mistakes and suggesting better solutions. The team tries to make some improvements to existing system's design, but cannot do much about it due to people that say just "no" and their judgement is grounded in years they have spent working on this product rather than actual explanation why this or that won't do better job than existing design.

Usually salaries are related with market needs, not really with any "fairness".

Today you as a developer earning more than (outside US) a surgeon or a physicist, but is this fair by any means? Not really.

I believe your rant on Java is only the symptom of the fact you either learning it, or nobody taught you the fundamentals.

The syntax is fine, less bloated than C++ for sure, the only reason you may complain on it is the fact it's too simple (no syntax sugar popular these days).

I think you need some time to use to the syntax, however I don't remember I had such problem.

I strongly recommend against splitting "types" of developers to backend and fronted.

The reason for that the websites is just one, big but still one, part of programming world.

It's easier to jump from fronted to backend than from web to embedded, or driver developer.
