I'm two years into a junior dev job at a large company with a respectable engineering department, that my 4 person development team is not lucky enough to be a part of. We're a weird hybrid team that grew from a project, with a specific code base that I'm still learning. The TL who built all of this lives in Hong Kong, and he has said roughly 100 words to me since I hired on.
My other teammates are also entirely untrained devs, meaning this is their only experience. The senior one has about ten years, but lacks several key development skills that I balance out on, so we work well together, except neither of us really knows what we're doing. The last teammate is newer than I, has not been doing well, and will likely not be around much longer.
I've never had a code review with my TL. He's a great coder, but I really need some guidance here. I've done a few projects and stuff but my stuff is never really used or kept, and I know I could be doing so much more.
I tried asking the senior teammate for more help but he is as lost as I am. Apparently moving my team to the engineering department would be a death wish for the team, and I don't want to lose my job either. I'm still finishing my bachelors and hoping to make progress on this team before I jump ship.2
How do you all diagram data flow? Small team of 3 devs, I'm the new guy. Data from various sources, through our middle end to final sql procs and presentation. I want to make a visual map but i dont know where to start9
