@7Raiden iirc LaTeX is turning complete
So checkmate :D -
And before anybody comes in and is like "actually *aggressive fingersnip* both has a reason and some thought put into it..." -Fuck off!
I now get the logic behind it but it's still unintuitive as fuck. And I wasted an hour on this shit because I was too proud/shy to ask for help. -
Do you need to attend the meeting in the office or can you at least do it from home?
-
@ThoughtfulDev RIP indeed
I got myself one of those bloody ultrabook thingies. So tiny and lightweight and pretty but absolutely useless. -
. (I wanna know the end.)
-
Do you even LaTeX, bro?
-

It's a all about the drivers.
I was able to install a MacOS on a USB drive and plug&play on all Apple devices I had access to (MacBook, MB Pro, iMac). -
@PerfectAsshole well the thing is my home automation software was Windows exclusive same for my Steam account and several other things. And I also lost all of my "spam" mail accounts so I can't reset my password for most of my accounts anymore.
Let's hope that the recovery will be successful. -
@PerfectAsshole *of /Dev/sdb
Sda is my win10 ssd, sdb is my windows data drive, sdc is my Ubuntu ssd and sdd is the respective HD. And sde was the USB drive I wanted to target. -
'cause proprietary code?
Do you even FOSS? -
I can consistently crash Win10 by trying to spin up a VM.
Some kind of virtualization hardware is not properly supported (never figured out why) but it's still shown as enabled. -
@runfrodorun would you mind putting this on github?
I'm trying to get into scripting and this sounds like a delicious entry point.
Btw which pizza related utility exists in UNIX-like systems? -
Just a short plug for c9.io an inbrowser IDE.
With a keyboard you might just have it work on an iPad as well. -
@Noob Well, exact expected time of arrival makes sense to me. Have I been reading ETA wrong my entire life?
-
I sincerely hope that guy is suing the living shit out of them.
Also he should maybe more careful with his contract writing next time so it's self-evident that they will have to pay for any changes or delays caused on their side. -
@alexmrabin now you do ;)
-
Until 5 years ago I was hovering around 250 kB/s. Unless it's was 2 a.m. then it would go up to 500 kB/s and I could finally watch 480p videos without having to buffer/download them.
-
@miau fuck yeah PL/1!
I'm gonna get an introduction and some beginner level tasks for it in two weeks.
I am unreasonably hyped for this but I am just happy to finally stop reviewing documentation. -
Now I'm waiting for something to show up on the Collab page. ;)
-
You mean "not complaining zo"?😉
-
@-eth as I said I don't expect them to do jack shit as my paladin.
I expect them to be the petty little cunts they always are and try to spoil other people's work because they have been left out.
And maybe in this case it might be good for me. -
@DelError the crude joke on the entire situation is they would have treated me like shit either way. The other student I started working with is doing the same shit I do. And he is actually willing to stay and work for them after that.
I'm not making up any excuses for them when I say that this would have happened regardless of my actions. But the timing is almost too good to be true.
Concerning holidays: the two months are the time left after using up all left holiday. The last day at work will be 15.07. but the contract will officially end on 30.07.
The thing I am currently hoping on is HR. Because as unexpected as this is the ivory tower didn't follow protocol. They more or less "abducted" us without telling HR anything. And while they are usually pretty chill they hate being not involved.
So now I'm counting on them to move me somewhere else just to spite these assholes. -
@afreitas thanks for your support
I'm just really down right now and don't know if I want to go to work tomorrow. -
Codecademy?
-
@codePolitics yep ... Pretty much...
-
Try building some kind of distributed system, maybe even just for serving different websites under one address.
One is a load balancer, two or three are the redundant production instances, one is a firewall (if it one of them has multiple LAN ports, use that one), one testing and one Dev.
I never done anything like this but I think it would be cool to try some DevOps stuff, learn about networking and general nerding. -
I hate having to wait till noon in Germany just to get someone on the phone in NY.
FFS just come to work at midnight!
Is that too much to ask? -
@DJSandmannTV in some talk (I think it was TED) he said something like: "I had to create my second big project to maintain my first one."
-
Some kind of static analysis?
