Gemini API key visible in client.
If that was a pay-as-you-go plan, you could be in debt quickly. -
I haven't been here often, but is it possible to display images here inline? Is there even any kind of formatting in this body text?

If those are the only things you do with git, then you don't need a GUI.
In my case, we have structures and rules. Every feature, request, or change must have single logical commits in master (for easy reverts).
Example: If you were working on request 1234 (built from a parent unmerged & unaproved branch 1233), and your colleague needed to update branch 1233, now you eventually have this commit tree.
1234 - Footer widgets design
1233 - Fix header css
1234 - Build footer components
1234 - Integrate footer API
Knowing that the goal in the end is to have one single commit for each request in master, How do you quickly "squash" all your 1234 commits into one?
In a GUI I can do this in less than 5 seconds.
I know how it's done in a CLI, I just prefer not to add that extra stress to my life. -
JetBrains IDEs don't do this. It only undoes changes in the current file.
I heard WebStorm is now free for non-commercial use.
Source: I use it for work.
I use VSCode for personal projects bu never really paid attention to this. -
@retoor If you're a solo developer working on your side project, there's no need for a GUI.
But if you're working in a team on projects where repos can quickly spread into several feature branches which were built from an unmerged branch because that one feature wasn't approved yet, then you should be super careful.
Yes I'm talking about conflicts.
You can't just run commands in your CLI and go to bed. Conflicts have to be manually reviewed and resolved, and GUIs display these in a nice way. They also run safe git commands and flags that you probably don't know.
In the end I do less typing and I'm quicker.
I'm not using a GUI because I don't know how to use the CLI. I'm using it for safety and reliability. I have run commands (by accident) in the CLI before. Never in a GUI.
The team lead in question has been a dev for more than 15 years, but commits still go missing after they attempt to resolve a conflict with their almighty CLI. -
Same website.

@Ranchonyx Windows 10. It's an Android emulator called Nox player.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi It sounds like FOUR native apps.
Also, you can't say it's reasonable if you haven't read the requirements. -
@junon I'm doing it.
-
@N00bPancakes Yeah. That's how they found me.
-
@SortOfTested Do you provide consultancy services on evil matters? I need one right now.
-
@endor I think it's because you had Skype for Business. Microsoft said they were discontinuing S.f.B and replacing it with Teams.

Two of my colleagues have MO. It's so bad that even when they're sitting at another desk close to me and they sigh or talk, I can smell it.
When they come to me for help and I can't bear it, I usually tell them I don't know how to solve it, and they leave to ask someone else. -
Same. I need complete silence. The only reason I listen to music sometimes is to drown out the voices of other people talking, which is a bigger distraction.
-
Those are rookie numbers lol.
I've done 5:30am, slept for an hour, then I was off to work by 7. -

Apparently, nothing seems to be illegal here. Anyone can get away with anything. I live in a developing country where nobody cares.
The salary is okay-ish for companies around here (which is the only reason I'm still here), but it's next to nothing compared to what other people at my level get paid in other countries. -
@jurion I wish. There are not many tech companies where I live.
Most of my applications have been to Germany. Canada would be a blessing if I can find a company willing to offer relocation assistance. -
@M1sf3t Here's a comment from one of my other rants. This happens very often.
-
@M1sf3t @jurion The fear that I may not get a new one as quickly as I want.
I have had this dilemma of whether to quit now and focus all my time on getting a new job, or stay and only leave when I get a new one.
I have had a few unsuccessful interviews recently, and a few others that I missed because of client meetings and work at the office. -
@rutee07 He might not be recording for keeps, but he definitely listens and watches us.
A colleague once had their headphone's volume up, it was audible but faint. Our boss called in to ask why he was playing music, then proceeded to apply a salary cut for that month. -
@codesociety What's your keyboard?
-
Is it first dev job, or first web dev job?
Welcome back. -
Adsense is the heaviest depending on how many ads you have on a single page.

Looking at this picture makes me uncomfortable.
-
The button that says "job" opens the print window.

@psion1369 My boss usually books meetings with clients same day. Or books it for some other day, doesn't inform me, then gets up one day and says "follow me, we have a meeting with XYZ company in 30 minutes". Otherwise, that's a good idea.
-
@spongessuck 😂😂. I have even thought of quitting completely, but the joke would be on me if I don't get these jobs, or any job for that matter. 😂
-
@just8littleBit We don't get leave days here. 😞
