Thinking about dual booting a Linux OS on my PC do you have any recommendations on what to use? I'm used to windows and want to dabble into Linux for curiosity's sake ☺️

    There's a lot of distros out there and since you can't decide which to set up as dual boot, why not try every distro in a VirtualBox? Until you find one that suits you, then you can set it up as dual boot. My advice, don't start with Kali but try every other distro.

    @agentQ Thanks for the advice, using a VM is definitely something I'll do!

    That said, any distro recommendations for the VM? 😉

    @Dalgam as someone who has experience with Kali, I just want to amplify @agentQ comment, Do not start with Kali.

    In my experience with other distros (which is very short) Ubuntu is a likely a good starting point, then after that there is Arch which seems to be a prefered between a lot of people but its a little more advanced.

    PopOS or Solus seems to starting gathering traction lately and for a good reason, you can also try maybe good ol' Kubuntu for that Windows-esque feel, ZorinOS looks great but is a paid distro

    @LiamHolmes Thanks! Have heard that Ubuntu is a good starting point and I'll look into Arch.

    @legionfrontier Nice, I'll take a look!

    If you're just starting out I'd highly recommend Ubuntu or elementary, I'd avoid the more obscure distros for now

    @luckyalpaca Personally I stopped believe in Elementary a long time ago, the ones I told seem a better option for Ubuntu based distros

    @santartine Cool, might be nice to test something close to windows. I'll add it to the list!

    The one I've used for years is Linux Mint. Recently, I've wanted to test if my new notebook (with Windows 10 preinstalled) would run it, so I installed it on VirtualBox. It feels like having part of my soul again.

    Linux Mint is popular. If you want a good list of distros, try distrowatch.com

    Whatever Linux you'll use, make sure to setup suicide linux. It will educate you properly ;)

    @justwellbrock Not sure if serious, joking, or just satisfying a messed-up sense of humor.

    @Seshpenguin Fedora27? You mean THE Fedora27? (Bad TheLegend27 reference).

    I'd go with Mint! Easy to use and with the Cinnamon deskto interface it's still windows-like :)
