    there's a lot of bad things in php, i'd be the last to deny it. but given the choice, i'd rather use php for the frontend than javascript for anything

    Coming back to the original post though, only because a language is old, doesn't make it any worse (as it is implied).

    Languages like C++, SQL, Bash, Python, Lua and Java have all existed BEFORE PHP (which is 1995 and earlier), and are around and well too.

    PHP is trendy to hate on, and I think that folks who do haven’t used 7/8 yet for anything major. It’s not bad, and that’s not just the Stockholm syndrome talking! Now Visual Basic and ASP, on the other hand can get fucked in the face (all face holes), straight to hell.
