@magentera tor is already broken cause the governments combined already own 50% of the nodes so all traffic on tor is traceable if they wanted to. So no they won't be using tor

Food and agriculture companies already put chemicals and use GMO produce in their food.
You as a consumer have a choice of growing your own food or buying organic.
And food is an essential resource for humans, unlike internet. -
@Chlodovechus without net neutrality you won't have any organic option. internet is really essential now, because it's such a highly used platform. these laws are already in place. there's no reason to change them.

@Chlodovechus The problem is not as much in the practice itself (although I consider it problematic), but in the lack of options. I don't know how it is in the US, but in Germany we only have one big ISP which controls the lines (and many small ones which just rent them).
So if that big provider decides to duck with net neutrality there are no alternatives for a big portion of the people.
It's all because the office for cartel control fucked up - usually these kind of monopolies are prevented in the first place (if you only have a few comparable competitors which share the market, they're not allowed to buy each other, for instance). -
@Chlodovechus and government regulations exist to stop private for profit businesses from screwing with the customer when it comes to anti consumer practices and access to basic utilities, of which the Internet is and has been one for years. Don't pretend Internet access is a "nice to have". This is why people will keep opposing. "Vote with your wallet" is useless if you're not vocal about it so that others can understand and follow suit.

how does it keep coming up? so much of the economy is online. why would congress want this? this should be a fucking fundamental right. no bs, just fast speeds everywhere. i hate all the isps thinking that because the world is so reliant on the internet, they control everything.
isps are a service. that's it.
they're not a profiler or advertiser, just a service.
and if that changes, I'll buy a bunch of flash drives and go offline.
