Reminds me of that episode of himym where Marshall announced to slap Barney in the face as hard as he could but it could happen any time. So it went on over months and Barney had to live with the constant fear of being slapped and slowly went insane.

That kind of announcements has some similiarity with those one-time-usage-links mentioned in another rant: a preview should not cause irreversible actions.
