Thunderbird UI sucks, search sucks, sending sucks, all sucks. Why cannot we have beautiful and user friendly linux mail app?

@Japorized @SHA-16384 gonna try all you mentioned. Thunderbird days are done for me.

Still looking for an linux application with same capabilities and a decent ui as outlook. It just works so cleanly whilst having all the integration I need.
Currently using Owncloud calendar to thunderbird lightning with the exception of my work which is a webcal to an ics file.
I have all the integration finally working the way I want but FFS the UI is just not it. 🤔

@rootshell yeah I don't really mind about missing calendar and other services. Can live with that. I mainly use mail app for digging old threads and sending/reading mail. So thunderbird UI is just so ancient.

Thunderbird is the best mua out there.

I just use the inbox web client, it's awesome!

    Doesn't emacs have one?

@Froot I have heard about inbox a lot but never tried yet. Does it support offline?

@host127001 You can essentially live in emacs anyway so let’s not go there shall we? 😂😂😂

@kabhishek The last time I download and tried it on windows, it just didn't work with some silly error box. I found it beautiful though.

@SHA-16384 I think you mean geary

I am usimg mailspring (electron tho), it is pretty and functional.
  • 1
@kabhishek did you see it is being deprecated? Switch to mailspring

Make a proton mail client in electron
    Call it hydrogen

@speedForce this should go up as post 😂

Dudes any non-electron alternative. I don't know what is the nylas mail based on.

Just an update. Uninstalled Thunderbird. Happy with Geary.

Also installed and tried Nylas. Definitely like the UI but very slow. Geary showed me my mails straight away while Nylas was taking like few seconds to load one mail after another.

@CurseMeSlowly nylas (now mailspring) has a local mail server, it download everything so it is kind of slow. Mailspring has a new C core so it is faster though
