    What you mean by 'was'?

And that's why major software companies don't care much about piracy, because if you used an alternative at home, you would be more likely to use that alternative at work and most of their money is made from businesses.

sounds like me, only I'm not a graphic designer and never used photoshop, but it's something I would do
  • 6
But photoshop is a tool for image editing. Graphic designers go to tools for page layout are inDesign, for logo work and vector graphics illustrator (freehand was better). graphic designers that do everything in photoshop should be prodded with a long stick 24/7. Please confirm that you are not one of those.

@helloworld 15yo having the giggles on mounting his friends heads on animals! Photoshop!

17yo me "woah this InDesign is so easy to use! Fuck Microsoft Word! I'm gonna do my school assignment with inDesign!"

hey heni what do you want become?
"I don't know, something with computers would be nice"

    Let's become a graphic designer!

@helloworld We should get into this infinite loop (or is it recursion?) where you mention me and I mention you.
  • 2
yeah. Although mine was Coreldraw x3
  • 3
@World good idea, we could give a ++ with each one for good measureπŸ‘πŸΌ
  • 3
@penderis corel draw came with a book full with clipart. πŸ˜ƒ
  • 4
    My design skill. 1% skill, 99% freepik.com
  • 3
@yonkycubase was also going to say freepik vs the clipart you get with corel. Aint nobody got time to draw all that shit.
  • 3
Lol. Sometimes i feel guilty , because users think its my own design 😁 @penderis
  • 4
@yonkycubase the elements may not be yours but you still do the effort to bring it together and the final layout. All those hours choosing a font is not for nothing.
  • 2
Although I am not a designer, even I can relate πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Will you get in trouble if you try to get a job/nternship and the people who will be employing you find out that your software is not legitimate and you've used it for all the work you've done till now..? I may sound silly but I'm actually worried.
  • 6
@Jop- I use Gimp & Inkscape a lot... but I honestly wouldn't build my business around them.

I gladly pay $600 per year per designer for Adobe CC, when I see them draw up amazing SVG animations in the time it takes me to prepare and drink a single cup of coffee.

I'm a pretty hardcore libre software evangelist, but in the creative sector we just haven't won the battle (yet). KDEnlive and Krita are scoring damn high on my list, but still need a litlle polishing as well.
  • 3
@-misc- if you make enough money to afford the Adobe CC subscription you shoud rent it. Since it's your main tool to make money. Heck, i find www.typekit.com alone makes it worth to pay for the subscription.
  • 2
ur right man, if needed i put some copyright very small πŸ˜‚ @penderis
  • 2
    @heyheni @ArcaneEye a
    Yeah I guess...
  • 3
I would pay for affinity photo and design. Well priced and does all that. except multipage layout in any adobe centric program will never be so corel or scribus are your only options.
  • 2
Photoshop and Lightroom are like 12 bucks a minth only?!
  • 2
@penderis They are working on Affinity Publisher to take on inDesign, although it looks like it will be some time off yet.
  • 1
@helloworld nice. I forgot about inDesign for multi. But frankly nothing beats corels usability and freedom when it comes to making layouts.

    Still... Yes!

My uncle is a project manager at Adobe. He explained to me once that Adobe never cracks down on pirates, and actually subtly encourages pirating their software because those people learn how to use it, then buy it when they're older. No kid can afford Creative Cloud, but if they're good they'll sure pay for it professionally or for a hobby when they're older.
  • 3
@plyman that's...real nice of them! And yeah if I did earn money I would definitely buy their products..

Nobody's talking about windows OS!! 😢

@returnN cracked windows sucks, you have to reeinstall it every half year or so because the crack stoped working. That's not worth the hassle.
