After a year using ElementaryOS, I'm planning to switch to another distribution.
I'm planning to go on Linux Mint (I need a stable machine with all the tools I need easily installable)
Now, I have to choose between KDE and XFCE. I've used KDE a little but I didn't get the point of all those widgets but I'm still open-minded. I've used a pure version of XFCE that was shitty-looking but was good at use.

Can you give me your opinion on both Desktop Environment?

    Xfce manjaro, I would recommend.

@jeanlucami I don't want the latest versions, just to have a stable system

    Why not both?

    In love with KDE!

@aki237 why would I do that? I don't see the point

@aki237 hey it's not about trying, it's about using it at school, to develop everyday. It's when I tried Manjaro that I needed some tools it was a mess to install for example.

Here I'm looking for an everyday distro as a C/C++ dev with stable tools easy to install. Ubuntu-like distros have all the tools I need sooo that's why I asked which DE I should install, not distro :p

ElementaryOS is pretty darn stable. For me it was more stable than Mint.

Im using mint with cinnamon, but xface is pretty okay too. Honestly, just grab whatever and install cairo or any similar dock.

@AndSoWeCode I'm very curious because I see a lot of developers praying Linux Mint then I want to give it a try

Latest version of kde plasma is very stable and lightweight. And there are videos there that show you how to make it look like elementary/Mac or windows or unity or however you want. It is very customizable. A bit of a pain to set up but once it is all set up it feels very polished and the eye candy isn't bad or resource intensive either.

Why not Arch + awesome wm ? No clutter and blazing fast

@Orionss in my experience, Mint was crap. Like pop music way of crap. The only legitimate reason to use it is if you want to get your parents off of Windows 7.
For the rest - Debian for devs, Ubuntu or light ubuntu flabors for general users, since on Debian you'd have to compile some of the software, which for a non-dev might sound scary.
