I don't get it..why do you have trust issues in arch users? He would have ended with the same result on every linux -
I see why this happened but i still don't approve of your colleague being near a linux distro. I mean wtf just jump on a random computer and assume that a usb stick is sdb. That shit is dynamic hell atleast make sure its the last one named like sd[a-z] before you run a dumbass command like that and even then you would be making halfassed assumtions.
Sorry i got triggered from that. And @Linux I'm an arch user and dumbshit like what that jackass did bugs me so please don't lump all arch users together -

As a sysadmin, I dont consider "using Arch" as a experience that make someone good at Linux. I have meet so many arrogant people that "have superior knowledge" only because they are using Arch, but when they are given instructions on basic server maintenance - they are scared as fuck and fucks things up.
I have been in the business and community long enough to see that pattern. -
@Linux Using arch doesn't make you good at server administration. Anybody that claims so is a dumbass that doesn't know the difference between a server and a desktop. But to be fair i know the ones you are talking about. I hate those fuckers myself cause they don't know how to fix stuff on their own 99% of the time.
But anyway arch and server distro are like dirt bikes and cars. While both can ride on the road one is safer and one is for more casual fun -
bahua128017yI know Linux very well, but I don't fuck around when I'm doing storage operations with root. I insert the USB and immediately do dmesg to make absolutely sure I'm nuking the right device.

The synrax was not ok for formatting the stick ;)
And hes my colleague and a good friend...he didn't deleted my ssd on purpose. Shit happens - but i had everything on backup so it was no big deal at all -
somebody7317ySyntax was fine, semantics not otherwise he wouldn't have deleted your drive ;-)
Nevertheless hopefully you learned no to give away root accounts :-)
