unrelated, but file_get_contents seems squishy to me.. If you managed to fuck with the dns query coming from the server, you could embed your own script, maybe write it permanently. Don't know what PHP would do with broken certificates on that request

@Kimmax if the certificate happens to be broken, php will throw a hissy fit in form of an error..

Of course though you can tell it to not validate the host..
