My birthday is coming up on the 13th so I'll be 17 soon, but it's a shame. I like being 16...

Anyway... I'm going to spend the entire day working on my python script because I know no one will come.

For 5-6 years no one came to my birthday even though they said they would.

It's fine. I stopped caring, besides, I get to spend the day with variables and loops! It'll be a fun day, not to mention I'll be home alone so no one will bother me.

Useless but interesting fact: I got lucky. I was born ONE MINUTE before Valentine's day. At 11:59 I would be so upset if I was born on the 14th.

    What are you working on in Python?
  • 9
    This honestly sounds so much better than having insignificant people (who don't even care otherwise) wishing you throughout the day and asking for a birthday treat randomly...
    I'm never excited about my birthday for the same reason.
  • 5
    Awww now hon you gon make me feel sad. I always try and be there for my friends on their birthdays. Me on the other hand I really do not like celebrating mine or having people celebrate me. There are many reasons why i should be celebrated :P but being born ain't one of 'em.
  • 6
    I'll come :D
  • 9
    @ewpratten
    It's this things that forces me to get to work. If I go on a distracting website, it'll close the tab :D

    More productivity!
  • 5
    @7root @SheShell @AleCx04
    It's not a celebration. I just wanted to hangout with 2 friends. That's it.

    I don't want presents. I don't want a party. I don't want to celebrate.

    I just want to hang out. :)

    @1989
    I only have 3 friends and ALL of them are single lol. I don't have to worry about that. :)
  • 4
    @AL1L
    Ah, simply delightful! That makes me really happy!!
  • 6
    @Michelle small problem, I'm most likely really far from you.
  • 7
    @1989
    Ohh lol. Don't worry about it. Relationships are a waste of time, money, and effort.

    Why spend money on some girl when you can get yourself something nice?

    Why waste time hanging out with a girl when you can spend time reading a book or something.

    You don't need a relationship to have a good time. At least you have more freedom than the rest of your friends.

    I love being single and you should too. I'd probably be upset if I was dating someone, because being single is just too great.
  • 6
    @AL1L
    Oh, you meant physically? Oh hell no, my mom would kill me! Haha.

    I thought you meant a virtual one. :)
  • 6
    @Michelle Lol that works too
  • 7
    @AL1L
    Yes, please don't actually come over to my house or else I won't live long enough to be 18 xD
  • 4
    Same for over than about approximately probably maybe 7 years
  • 6
    Where’s the party🎊 ? Can it hold these many ppl? 🎈
  • 8
    @cyanly
    Ooh, I can hold a devRant birthday party in this thread!!
    Thanks for the idea! :D
  • 5
    I hated being 17... It's only one year until your adult, you're kind of adult but still not really. Depending on where you live, you're either allowed to drink or to drive.
  • 6
    @Michelle I’ll bring booze! Oh wait ... (by ‘booze I meant lemonade’)
  • 5
    @Wack
    Drinking no.
    Driving yes.
    I'm not excited for 17 tho.
  • 5
    @cyanly
    It's a 17th birthday, not 21 ;)
    Nice save haha.
  • 5
    @Michelle are you from the US by any chance? Here in good old europe we start drinking (legally) at 16 (beer and wine) and are allowed to vote, drive and drink (like "hard"/high volume stuff) when turning 18
  • 5
    @Wack
    Yes, I live in the US. I can legally drive, but I can't drink until 21. I don't want to drink anyway.
  • 2
    I don't really care about birthdays.
    I don't really care about the fake birthday wishes from people who know about it from Facebook.
    I don't really care about people pretending that the day is something special.

    I don't need a special day, I would enjoy it more without all that hassle.
  • 1
    Hey man, just know that we are all here if you need us! It’s like your party from across the world ;)
  • 3
    @Dimmerworld
    My parents have always worked during my birthdays so they couldn't come. It's usually just me at home haha.
  • 4
    @imacat
    It's not a party.

    Is there some thing wrong with wanting to hang out with others for once?

    I'm tired of being fucking lonely all the time. I'm always at home all alone because people are busy. Sometimes I like it but sometimes it gets really lonely.

    If you think there's sonething wrong with that then you've never been lonely before.
  • 7
    @anish
    A virtual party with devRanters is 20 times better than having people IRL :)
    Thanks.
  • 3
    @Michelle Lol now I know what to do on March 12th!!!!
  • 3
    @ThaOneDude Is that your birthday?
  • 2
    @Michelle
    Being alone you learn to understand yourself, what you want from life and from relationships (romantic and not).
    But, as you said, being always lonely is sad. I understand you. I had a group I considered friends for some years, but after an argue they turned their back. Now I just have one real friend, but she lives in Atlanta (I am Italian and live in Italy) and we have 6 hours of difference, but when we talk, even just a "good morning" can change your mood. What I want to say is that if you invite your friends and you promise a cake (the cake is not always a lie) and you know they aren't busy and they don't come to your "party", maybe they aren't real friends (or maybe they are just lazy).

    If you will be alone the day of your birthday, I think we can arrange a Skype call and sing "happy birthday" to you :D
  • 2
    @pinoelefante
    I usually enjoy being alone and self reflecting. I find it rather enjoyable and relaxing. :)

    However, excessive solitude can be lonely. I tend to prefer solitude over company, but I'm always to myself. At school, no one talks to me. At home, no one is home. Constantly being alone isn't a good feeling if excessive. (But it's probably my fault why things are like this.)

    Sorry to hear about your friends. You're too good for them anyway, and at least you found the real friend through it. :)

    I don't have a Skype, but either way, I wouldn't want anyone to go through the trouble of doing that. I'm perfectly content with what ever everyone commented on this rant.

    I do appreciate the thought, but your comment is better than a "happy birthday."

    @Haxk20
    Ah, have fun. You're going to be an adult soon. :)

    I don't like playing games, so that isn't an option lol.
  • 3
    @Haxk20
    You guys don't have to do anything, seriously! It's too much work and a waste of time for all of you. I don't need any spams or messages on Skype or Signal.

    Thank you so much, but it's fine. There's no need to put in the effort for something that's not important. :)
  • 3
    @Haxk20
    That's true, but physical age does matter when it comes to legal stuff.
    Right now you can't sign contracts, or move out, or do all of that stuff... But in a few days when you're 18 you will.
  • 3
    @Haxk20
    You don't have to spam me either. It's fine. :)

    Have fun with it and happy early birthday!
  • 3
    @Haxk20
    I'm not a big fan of physics. I never took the class, so I probably shouldn't say that, but I probably won't like it.

    But I will admit, the equation does look attractive.
  • 4
    Two bdays ago I had to remind my best friend 😐
  • 4
    @linuxxx
    What a jerk. You deserve a better friend than that. :c
  • 4
    @Michelle Nah he had a good reason, he was right in the middle of the exams and it was hard as hell.

    Still in good touch with him and still love that guy!
  • 3
    @linuxxx
    I guess so. Still, it seems a bit harsh. It's great you didn't cut contact with him for that. Hopefully he is a good friend
  • 2
    @SoulSkrix
    Is that person even your friend if s/he doesn't know your birthday?
  • 2
    @SoulSkrix
    In the US, it's virtually an insult if you don't remember someone's birthday.
  • 3
    @solooo7
    Thanks for getting me at 17k. :)
  • 3
    @Michelle don't read this.

    No. Don't!

    Seriously. Stop!

    You'll just ruin the surprise.

    Okay, so she's not reading. So every one else, how about we "gift" her a tiger for her birthday by upvoting all her stuff on the 13th, until she reaches 20k?
  • 2
    @Wack Heck yeah i'm in
  • 3
    @Wack
    Oh come on. It's my post, so I should be able to read it.

    Fortunately, I always stand by my word. If you really don't want me to read it, I won't.

    Oh, and if someone tells me what you said, I technically didn't read your comment, soooo just putting that out there.

    Can I read it tomorrow? :D please?
  • 2
    @Michelle No you may never read it.
  • 4
    @Michelle no, you can read it when you're 17, young lady! *tries to sound like an old guy from an american movie*
  • 2
    @ThaOneDude @Wack
    You're seriously killing me right now. The suspense is difficult to handle. But I accept your challenge. At least I have something to look forward to when it's the 13th. :)
  • 2
    @SoulSkrix
    I didn't tho.
  • 2
    @SoulSkrix you in?
  • 2
    @SoulSkrix will do!
  • 1
    Virtual party let’s go!
  • 1
    My mother would love to have you. Every time she tries to even think of a birthday party I get twitchy and make it clear no parties are to be held, that I shall spend my birthday on my own. She's not a fan :(

    We have the opposite problem xD

    Hope all goes well for your birthday! Maybe someone will surprise you :)
  • 3
    @nanoandrew4
    Thanks but no one understands at all.

    It is not a party. I just want to hang out with 2 friends. That's it.

    2 friends != party

    I spend more time alone than everyone thinks I do :/
  • 1
    @Michelle Why not just phone up two friends and be like "heyoo, wanna do something on the 13th?"

    Unfortunately good stuff doesn't just happen, you gotta make it happen (most of the time). Which sucks because I'm usually just waiting for stuff to happen to me :(
  • 3
    @nanoandrew4
    You didn't read the rant, didn't you?

    I said, no one comes. I'll invite them every year yet no one comes for some reason.
  • 1
    @Michelle I did :( but assumed you meant they never came of their own accord... Didn't think they didn't come even if they had said they would... That's terrible, I'm so sorry to hear

    Edit: After re reading, I guess I should have assumed "no one ever comes even tho they say they would" implied you invited and they accepted... My apologies
  • 3
    @nanoandrew4
    It's fine. :)
    It's my fault they don't come so I shouldn't complain.
    I don't socialize with people, my bangs cover one eye, I ways have headphones on.. People probably think I'm weird lol. I guess that's why they don't come.
  • 1
    @Michelle But those are the things that make you interesting, being normal is boring af. You just haven't found your people yet, the day will come :)
  • 3
    @nanoandrew4
    I guess so. :)
  • 2
    Happy b-day. You will find your pair in this life. Nobody stays single forever. Good luck and have a great day.
  • 3
    @isawen
    Thank you! I appreciate it :)
  • 2

    She'll certainly have your head for your betrayal. ;)

  • 1
    Happy birthday! Sorry for being late. When you will turn 18 invite somebody over. I always didn't invite friends over but i risked this one and it was great. If you/anybody needs someone to talk , i am AndreiKnight#1217 on discord.
  • 1
    @Michelle birthday on 15th on feb. Too, pretty close
  • 1
    Well, now you are 17, everyone on devRant, I want to share something.....
