Virus Rant: Unwanted folder keep creating itself after deleting it.

Windows Defender detected some malware & cryptominer exist and originated from Chrome folder

Solution: Remove completely Chrome and stick with Microsoft Edge for now!

I cant believe I am removing Chrome and stick with Microsoft Edge.

Lesson learn: please be vigilant at all time.

Or how about uninstal chrome if you really must and then install it again after you clean up your device

I have clean it up, but no Chrome for now. I suppose it might be because of all the extension/addon that i use. Next time, maybe i should not use any extension to be safe. But for now, no Chrome for me

I use just a few extensions that I kbow are safe and so far so good

Keep your OS and programs on C:\ and your Data on D:\. That way you can just reinstall your OS and programs when you get a virus. It takes max 2 hours to reinstall windows + all the programs you use.

I just had a similar occurance last night in that starting chrome would spike and hold the cpu. So far ive only noticed the problem on windows. So ive moved to firefox developer edition.

Edge is nice. Chrome is shit. Firefox rocks.

I like opera... Comes with a built in vpn(torrenting is so easy coz of this)and whatsapp, messenger as side window, plus its made on chrome or canary i guess, so it supports many of chrome extensions. So overall good experience from past 4 years...

@chaostools I like opera too. Great UI and UX.

    Have you tried adw_cleaner?

They just got bought by malwarebytes a few years ago, and for good reason. 10/10 best way for solving issues dealing with adware, especially rogue chrome extensions.

@RantSomeWhere then i hope some fbi cops are not coming to this side ,for downloading game of thrones xD

But seriously, is it really not that secure? I am not much known to data security, but when i start vpn, it changes my ip to somewhere in Netherlands...is that not enough?

Thanks guys for all your comments and feedbacks. I've learnt a lot.

Anyhow, after few days of digging, it turns out that those files/folders was created not by viruses but by Cybereason Ramsomfree software.
