So I was in an interview for a web developer position in a startup and the interviewer said to me "Do you think you'll be able to help the guys with CAD design?" I have no idea what to say. Does this guy even know what a developer is??!?!? I mean not that I dont know how to use CAD, but I'm applying as a DEVELOPER, not a product designer

@MoCkYPR payment is biggest issue in startups right now. If you want work done you must pay appropriate price to the developer.

A simple "I would be happy to try, always something to learn but would I bring anything to the table? Maybe not"

@MoCkYPR of course sometimes you have to be clear that you will not do their work for free, you should always be willing to help especially in a startup.

I see a lot of people take interview questions personally, without realising they are often designed to make you flip your shit in advance of it happening in a work scenario so they can avoid a bad hire.

But then don't let anyone take the piss out of you either.

Yeah, my company has that with a developer who's also a system administrator and doesn't get extra for it.

It can be hard for a very small company to have someone as specialized as a developer that only does development. You usually need to wear many hats because there are more departments than there are people.
