IM SO FUCKING TIRED OF CROSSPOSTS FROM SHITTY FACEBOOK GROUPS THAT POSTED A MEME THAT HAPPENED TO BE SOMEWHAT RELATED TO TECH!

And what shits on my gears even more is that the down vote system doesn't seem to work as intended and I see these posts getting upvoted to over 10pts. WHAT THE FUCK PEOPLE?

So I have a new rule proposal:
If you see one of these posts and don't comment "fuck you" within 2 hours you get a lifetime ban from devRant.

Fuck all these 12 year olds!

    I once suggested to crawl reddit and forbid people to upload stuff uploaded there. The idea was quickly discarded because crawling reddit is too big of a task*. But the question how to handle shitposts still remains. Maybe you can ban duplicate posts, that'll get rid of refactor men on the feed

    *maybe you can limit the crawling to the top-pages, but i don't know

    fuck you

    @Mizz141 @azous now y'all just mean. I thought that devRant was supposed to be supportive, happy, wholesome, family friendly community for developers 😩

    @PaulTheSaltyDev we are, was just following your instructions on what to do on posts about Facebook o.O
  • 0
    @azous you need to be precise, otherwise dicks get stuck in ceiling fans
  • 2
    Umm, maybe you should go ahead and -- the posts you come across instead and enable the "Hide rants voted as repost" filter in settings. Also, using the "Algo" will help which will only display the posts according to your ++ stats/pattern and you'll see less of the cross-posted stuff(assuming you don't ++ cross-posts).

    It's not nice to diss people only because they cross-posted something over here. There are all sorts of people on devRant including those who actually do enjoy those cross-posts either because they come across it for the first time here or because they just simply enjoy them. So let's not be the dominating one here.
    Quoting you, "devRant is supposed to be a supportive, happy, wholesome, family friendly community for developers". Preach what you say.

    @azous don't you know the famous phrase "instructions unclear, dick got stuck in ceiling fan"?
  • 3
    1) -- Repost
    2) Comment: "Repost of a repost of a repost" / "Reposted ad nauseam" / "I tried to click like, but realized this wasn't Facebook"
    3) Move on.
    4) Stop caring.

    Though I agree; I don't like seeing tired memes here either.

    @azous hah! Forgot the "/s"

    Damn Poe's law got me again

    @SheShell though, it's not what I said it is.

    And yeah, I think it's ok to diss people who don't make more effort than copy and paste a pic from their shitty BuzzFeedWhateverLadBibleFacts-group on Facebook, without adding anything interesting that might lead to an interesting discussion.

    They do it for the cheap internet points and is very disrespectful. So why not give them some internet shame?

    It doesn't matter what I or anyone else does because other 12 year olds will ++ them and comment "😝😝😁😁😂😂💯👌" and bump them in the algo.

    @SheShell oh, now I realize that I wrote to quickly. I didn't actually know about that algo-feature. So I retract my last paragraph, for now.

    Though my point about internet shaming them still stands.

    @qwert hah! "qwert ++'d your rant" partner-in-crime-alert!
  • 1
    @PaulTheSaltyDev I still don't see a point in "internet shaming" anybody over a mere cross-post.
  • 0
    @SheShell it lowers the blood pressure and ensures that they got the point and won't do it again

    @DLMousey the trolls I can live with, but the kids that genuinely think that they are contributing with something good to the community, by posting memes, make my blood boil.
