I had this experience last year. I supplied a fix to some handheld devices, complete with detailed guides on how to install it. I even made a verbal agreement with the team lead that they would make sure the files were installed and the guide run before they let anyone contact me.
I then proceed to get calls from team members every day for a few weeks with the conclusion that their team lead hasn't even distributed the fucking files! And as if that wasn't bad enough, they try to pin their failed projects on me!
I get everything in writing from then on. I have a boss who trusts me and who got my back when things got hairy, but I don't ever want to be in a position where there's any doubt again, it was a very unpleasant period!
