just a quick rant to express my HATRED towards java.

Today I played minecraft a bit to release some stree (plis dont tell anybody xD)

FUCKING HELL

1) Java boasts with its portability. Except it doesnt even have a proper runtime for linux
2) ITS SUPER SLOW
3) FAHCKING HELL it's so broken when you start with custom hardware (might be the fault of Gl tho)

^^ those points dont list the horrors of coding in it. I have already accomplished some coding challenges in it, and I know it to be an epitome of misery

Linux doesn't have official Java? There's something's wrong with that n definitely not slow. Otherwise all our Production machines would be running Windows not RedHat...

Hmm iced tea is for Linux too also there is the oracle Java jvm too for Linux so it's portable. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to play minecraft on Ubuntu lol

    I like Java...

yeah, as everyone said, your first point of plain wrong. your second however is debatable. i know youre a c++ guy, so i guess i can understand, but its fairly fast by today's standards of interpreted languages.

So what's wrong with OpenJDK/TuxJDK again?

@RantSomeWhere well the official jvm is a horrible mess and super hard to install. so i use iced tea

@gnulinuxer4fun I've never heard of that. We use the Oracle jdk and I think in Ubuntu before I've installed OpenJDK but I don't use much Linux/Java outside of work.

@billgates Well ive tried on three occasions. three fails xD

@gnulinuxer4fun i guess ask on stackOverflow or maybe just your particular flavor of Linux? What are you using?

    @billgates Fedora.

but I've already tried on ubuntu. it broke my apt system more than once.

And on fedora I didnt even bother with the official jvm

@gnulinuxer4fun hmm... Seems simple? Download the from Java. com, not apt?

I guess would need a VM to try myself but don't have the space or time.

I've used both Oracle and openJDK on both Ubuntu and Arch, never had an issue. Hate to say it but...user error?
